Quinn talked about "playing mean". Where was the mean when Nieves got creamed on a hit to the head that may be reviewed by the league? Tons of penalties in a sloppy game but nobody going after Gryba? Cody McLeod = useless
the decisions to be made on defense are going to be extremely interesting that's for sure
I just like Pionk. I like when he's out there, I like everything he does even before the GWG
I think his spot should be a guarantee at this point - jimbro83
Pionk earned his spot last season, especially since he's a RD. I guess they just wanted to be sure he didn't pull a Brendan Smith and come to camp out of shape. Claesson looked worse than I remember seeing him with the Sens. Lindgren didn't show much yet.

Hey thanks for your hit and run.
But, actually I agree. There may have been secondary head contact, but I didn't see it as primary, or the hit as predatory. I am ok with there not being any response, just because I'm tired of seeing guys get jumped and have to fight just because they threw a legal check.
If you can't take a clean hit, or even worse can't take the fact that your teammate got hit cleanly... go play soccer.

I can't see McLeod in the roster on opening night. Lack of reaction to the hit is a little disturbing when Quinn talked about toughness, especially in a pre-season game when these guys are trying to prove they belong in the NHL.
I was just being a jagoff. I honestly don't like the hit, I think he gets low so he can launch himself upwards into the head. Initial contact may have been to the shoulder but he still follows through the head.

I thought it was incidental, looked they actually knocked heads. But when a player is laying on the ice from a hit, the team better respond.
the belief that Lias Andersson is a slow skater is FAKE NEWS female doges - jimbro83
For sure he was on the slow side last season. He looked slow in the Traverse tourney as well. Thanks to Ben Prentiss, he finally looks better. No doubt Lias has worked hard on his skating... A future "C"!
All I know is that Ranger hockey is back, baby!!!!!!
After watching Matthews, Tavares and Co. from up close over the weekend I was pretty pumped to see a game format featuring guys I actually care about seeing develop.

He didn't look very slow on that shorty he had. Also, Lias isn't going to score the majority of he goals on breakaways. He plays in the dirty areas around the crease and the high slot, where you don't need speed, you just need to be good on your edges and be in the right place at the right time. good positioning = good opportunities
