Didn't watch the game but, it's hard to dominate the game and lose. You can outplay a team and lose but, dominate?

I would say outshooting a team 46-20, including 33-8 in the 2nd/3rd periods, would classify as dominating.

They generated a *ton* of good chances. Jaroslav Halak was just fantastic.

The Flames did that all the time last year. Nothing new.

I think they'll do well under Peters, FWIW.

Run and gun hockey always produces a lot of shots. Have to be good on both sides of the puck to "dominate".

They won the shot clock against a team without its top 2 centers and half its top 4 d man. Hold on to this moment.

“Ryan is noticeably ahead of Jankowski right now.”
He also has the experience of Peters coaching style and systems. It’ll take more time for Jankowski to catch up in that regard.

There were a lot more positives than negatives in last night's game, and it takes more than a practice or two for a new coaching staff to get everyone on the same page, so there is no reason to overreact and be concerned.

That's the game I watched.
Not to mention
1. Monahan looked great.
2. Giordano and Brodie looked as if they had never been separated.
3. Gillies made saves that he didn't make last year. (And looked pretty decent in the shootout too.)
4. Bennett was engaged. Hathaway looked great.
5. They drew penalties including one on Marchand.
6. I don't think I've ever seen a 6 on 3 before.
7. They came back to tie it 3-3 with less than a minute left. Scored by Giordano from Brodie no less. That doesn't remind me of 2017. It reminds me of the Hartley era when so often they came from behind to tie it in the 3rd period then Gaudreau/Backlund/Hudler would win it in the overtime/shootout.
8. The biggest reaction from the fans was for the scrums in the crease - not the goals.
After the shortest crappiest summer I can remember (including first snow on Sept 12) I really enjoyed getting back into hockey mode and seeing the new team. If you didn't see anything to like in the game last night, I'm sorry for you.

Yes, it was watered down Bruins team. Doesn't change the fact that the team looked good, that's not an argument.

Thought the team looked good as a whole and was pleasantly surprised with EL, DR, NH and AC. But did anyone else feel like Neal was kinda invisible...? Had a couple good looks but overall didn't really notice him alot.

Not worried at all since it was one preseason game but thought it was worth noting.

If you didnt watch the game, don't comment on it.

Calgary really did dominate the play, but Halak was INSANE!! He looked in mid-season form, ROBBING Lindholm a couple times and completely taking away the bottom of the net.. Jon Gillies on the other hand looked like an AHL goalie, and the Bruins got 3 weak ones on him in about 2 or 3 minutes.

No one knows what the outcome of this game would have been in the regular season, on regular ice, with regular rosters for both teams, but Calgary really did show up to play and should have won. But they didn't. Anyone can win on any given night in the NHL. Actual good teams like the Bruins found a way to win a game when they were severely outplayed. And that's what separate the average teams from the good ones.

^^^This!

Not only was he great but he's their backup for god's sake!

Kelly Hrudi mentioned that the outside temp was 34 degrees with 70% humidity. Somebody really should get a HT for making ice that stood up better than many nights at the Saddledome.

Having recorded the game and now having watched it, Czarnik and Ryan really impressed me. Both were all over the ice and had some great chances. The top line looked fantastic as well and Lindholm seemed to fit seamlessly with Gaudreau and Monahan. Brodie with Gio is night and day and Gillies was solid minus that stretch in the 1st. Expected more out of Neal, but there's no reason to be worried yet.

This team looked good, and they showed a resilience that was lacking a lot last season. There's certainly reason to be optimistic.

Meanwhile the Flames back interested familiar territory, an annual fringe playoff team that finishes 7-10th in the West and gets their asses kicked in round 1 or 2

Sounds too familiar to every Flyerz-fan, but they at least won a cup when the newspaper cost more than 15 cent and can watch it on color-tape.
