Oh I have an idea for you.
Nobody with measurable cognitive function can understand what Dorion is talking about.
So maybe you can help?

Well that comment is ridiculous.
So the Leafs have the same playing personnel a sign the Oil?
I think the Leafs are the prototype for all teams to follow in a rebuild, they've done it very very well to date. The Oil have done things in a terrible way that quite frankly the Leafs couldn't possibly follow. Oh, & the Leafs don't have McDavid. - Aussiepenguin
Yeah, you definitely can help us with Dorion's quote. |

What say me? I say you may want to wipe your chin. Youve got poop on it from kissing Matthews ass so damn much. Did you have your whole head up there? He had a poop playoff because hes lazy. When the playoffs were over the coach flew to Arizona to meet him with rumours swirling they werent getting along. Now he doesnt get an A. Ever think maybe Matthews is the problem? All this tells a more intuitive person than you that Matthews is a lazy, spoiled, entitled prima donna dbag that only cares about himself. Ship him outta town fast - Liamace
Apart from the fact that your entire post is garbage, I'm just gonna respond to the bolded.
Babcock went around the (frank)ing world (literally) to meet and talk with many players on the roster (Matthews, Andersen, Zaitsev, and Kapanen to name a few). That's called doing your job.
Why are people so stupid? |

You may have missed it. It was reported Babcock specially went to see Matthews at his home to clear the air. So whether or not he would have done that anyway, it was reported that way.
Did Babcock go see Connor Brown do you know? |

Tavares and Marleau are no brainers both former captains who've been around the league for a long time. Marleau 20 seasons, 14 of those wearing a letter, 1575 regular season games, 184 playoffs games, two Olympic gold medals, two world championships. Tavares 669 games played over 9 seasons, 7 of those wearing a letter. 6 as captain. Olympic gold medalist, world Junior gold medalist and world championships gold medalist. Rielly already had a letter last year and anchors the blue line. Nothing to see here. Obvious choices. But na we should give it to a 20 year old in his 3rd season just cause the Oilers gave it to their guy.
Edit: Tavares will be captain and Matthews will wear an A once Marleau leaves. |

That's the media driven part you're foolishly taking to heart.
Pretend the media aren't retarded (spoiler alert; they are) and that Babcock was just going around meeting members of the team to talk about the future of the team and the direction it's going (literally what happened).
Not so controversial now, is it? |

I actually posted an interview on the Leafs thread at seasons end where Matthews himself said there was a little disharmony - I can't remember the exact wording 'he' Austin Matthews used, but he never denied there was an issue. There was/is definitely an issue between him & the coach Babcock. And yes Babcock did go specially to see Matthews, & part of that visit was to clear up any issues.
I believe coaches & players have issues all the time - (frank) the Pens have Sully & Kessel. But trying to deny the issue is what's happened in Leaves land that everyone else (in here on the Buzzzzz) gets on. Just admit it & move on. It's easy. |

I think you are being goofy. He gave the A's to 3 good guys. None for the three super studs. You are making something out if nothing. No C for now. It will go to 91 or 34 depending how it shakes out. |

I agree 100% with everything you said in your post up until the Tavares will be captain thing, not sure that will be the case |

The players wearing those letters would probably disagree with you there. - Aussiepenguin
Watching the latest player videos and comments seems like the majority is tired of hearing of the debate . Matthew's stated whether he has a letter on his jersey or not it won't change the way he plays on the ice. I'm saying from a fans point of view. The media and everything that surrounds has this obsession with believing this team apparently can't be successful without someone rushed in to wearing a letter on their chest. |

Marleau has been like a Dad to Auston and Mitch. I'd give Marleau the C until his contract is up. By then it will be clearer whether Matthews is in fact captain material, or whether that honour belongs to JT.

It's telling how this is now the biggest controversy non_leaf fans can cling to. Times have changed.
Matthews is committed long-term to Toronto and they are a cup favourite. |

Man some of you guys are so paranoid. Part of a players development is giving them responsibility. Leaders lead & should be given that responsibility. Is Matthews ready to be a leader amongst his group?
I have no view on whether the team will/won't be successful with who has the letters. I do believe Matthews could play very well given more responsibility though. All this other noise around my comments is just that, Leafs fans female doging & whinging about poop they have invented! |

July 1, 2019 the Arizona Coyotes sign hometown boy and franchise savior Matthews to a $14-$15 mil per year offer sheet. This forces the Leafs to match which will put them in cap hell for the next 7 years. - islansjet

this would be more credible if there was waves larger than 6 inches and rain and clouds.
like the "conspiracies" beginning to spin up around the Leafs - I always remember Kessel and "Hot Dog Gate" as the best example...
like the Hurricane, a lot of reporting and surprisingly little major storm impact.
I can't wait until someone grabs a picture of Matthews eating a hot dog or some other 'street meat" in downtown Toronto. The controversy will be unimaginabe! |
