Kudos to the Blackhawks for changing their injury policy. They will, indeed, specify the injury rather than use the archaic "upper body" and "lower body" terminology. We'll see if that applies to Corey Crawford later today.

So Seabrook has a core muscle injury, and the guy who was supposed to take a step forward and be a key Dman this year in Connor Murphy is out until November/December....
This is going to be a really tough season ladies and germs. Anyone who has strained an abdominal muscle (I have) can attest that it is a (frank)ing female dog of an injury that will nag, and has a high probability for re-injury....I mean you only use your core with EVERY motion of your body...

We knew it was going to be a tough season.
We've known it for some time.
Why not enjoy it for what it should be - a showcase for many of the younger players to see how they develop, looking at Keith and Toews (with Kane, the remaining healthy "core" players) to see how much they can come back....
This still could be an exciting hockey experience. |

I will still watch every game and I was impressed by the skill/speed of Kahun/Sikura in Traverse City. Hawks SHOULD still be able to score 3 goals per game. The defense is going to be.....interesting now without Murphy. Anyone hoping for that miraculous fountain of youth discovery from Seabrook.....you have your answer with a preseason core injury..... |

No, that's bad. And stupid. Who the f*ck cares what social media thinks?
Here's what will now happen. Blackhawks say, 'Player X has a sprained right wrist'. Next opponents sees that and targets Player X's right wrist. He gets slashed in the right wrist every shift.
The reason you say upper/lower body is to hide the type & extent of the injury from your opponent, to protect the player. |

Corey Crawford said last year he had a concussion and he's still getting over the symptoms. "Most of them are gone." He added that he didn't have vertigo. #Blackhawks |

Maybe if the NHL knows who and how someone is injured, the refs will be able to call targeting to (Re)injure with stiffer penalty? Like someone targeting Toews head and back constantly.

I hate to say this, but I wish he could go on long term IR
and never take another hit to the head, he's already taken
way to many and I fear for his long term health.
There has to be a way a player in his position can collect
the remainder of his contract regardless of whether he ever
plays again w/out drawing the wrath of naysayers. |

This doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies about Crow playing anytime soon. - tvetter
Neither does this: Corey Crawford: "We want to talk more about injuries [this year]. "Last year was a concussion, and I'm still getting over symptoms. Most of them are gone, but I'm not clear yet. Until that happens, I won't be back in." |

And Malkin? Ray Charles was watching that game and and even he saw that it was an intentional knee to Corey's head. |

Good luck with that. It doesn't change the fact that releasing more detailed injury information is foolish. |

Seriously? You really think it is that hard for people to determine what part of someone's body is hurting (or that they are favoring)? There are multiple camera angles of every game and it's not that hard to figure out if a guy got slashed on his right wrist, or hurt his left shoulder. Concussions are typically pretty simple to determine as well. |

Is this a serious post?
If so, I think this is the only positive thing I've heard a Flyers fan say about him.
What's your take on him and what do you think he can bring to the Hawks? - Justin Lowe
So what do the hawks do stay the path and ride it out until the team gets healthy, make trades or sign a free agent or 2 ,limited on contracts 47, or write this year off? What would it take to get nurse from Edmonton or ceci from Ottawa? |

Doesn't sound like he will be going to LTIR, based on his comments "How he felt good on the ice" and "things have been progressing very well" .
Seems like they are taking a real kid glove approach to easing him back in because honestly, why rush if he isn't 100% ready. |

Well said. I noticed that watching the videos and it's refreshing to hear an athlete talk openly about his injury. I know some guys here don't care or think the Hawks have to appease the media or their fans, but it eliminates the BS when a media guy is 99% sure player has X injury but yet player or coach or team won't confirm or deny.
At the end of the day, its' all about CC's health long term. Yes, I would love to see him back as he's crucial for this team's success but for CC as a person he has a family, he's made his money, he's won multiple times, so what else is there to jeopardize his long term health for? Played with a guy who slew footed and has been out since February. It's scary.
And again, this all proves why Ward was such a hot commodity for this team as they knew where and how CC was progressing and the fact there wasn't a 100% certainty he would be back. |

He sounded like he usually does? Idk how often you guys listen to Crawford's interviews in the past, but he's always been a monotone and slow speaker who says um a lot. It could definitely be a while but nothing in his speech patterns tell you that - his actual words and actions should do the talking, if you will. |

Hey Enzo - par for the course with Bowman running this team. And on top of that the Sharks got Karlsson for a song...and a bad one at that. Where the frank was Bowman - can't believe the Hawks didn't have these assets. Ottawa's GM out to be fired. - DK002
You can't look at trades like they would be one-for-one for every team. The ask could be completely different depending on the system. According to Friedman's latest 31 Thought, Ottawa was asking for Heiskanen from Dallas but they wouldn't part with him obvs so the talks kind of taper off. |
