The Panthers are set up to be a force in the NHL this season....BUT the one VERY big "IF" is the health and ability of Roberto Luongo being able to play a ton of games...with solid goaltending the Panthers are right there with Boston and Tampa....Steve Mason could be the perfect compliment to Florida....

I honestly didn't realize that Spezza was a free agent.

So Florida has Lu, Reimer and Hutchinson on one way contracts but they're going to add a 4th just in case Lu gets hurt?

The word vapid comes to mind when reading these "roomers". It just seems beyond lazy. Throwing darts you could find any number of teams who need Mason more than Florida

Spezza Returning to Ottawa?

Looking forward to the "Spezza definitely staying Dallas" and "Florida happy with goaltending" blogs tomorrow.

So, the team with Luongo and Reimer that just signed Hutchinson is now gonna go a step further and add Mason?

I mean, it does surround the narrative that Ottawa is trading for every has-been in the league

Ek is now getting his rumors from checking fan trades on CapFriendly.

I saw someone who had the Stars trading Spezza, Methot, Honka, a 1st, and a 2nd for Karlsson and Ryan with 50% retained salary by Ottawa.

Someone is sore they weren't invited to the exclusive Ek party at the top of the East. As talented as the Leafs are offensively, until they shore up the defense some there will be naysayers. And believe me, as a Habs fan, I have more hatred for the Bruins than most, but even I admit they're put together better than the Leafs, overall.

I love how these Hab trolls put their two cents in about the Leafs not being one of the top teams in the East.

I would even take the Marlies roster over the current Habs roster every day and twice on Sundays, the only thing the Habs look forward to getting is the 1st overall pick in the draft, but Bergevin would probably trade the pick away for a couple of 3rd liners.

I love these Leaf trolls who can't understand that some teams are put together better than the Leafs. Do they have ELITE talent at forward? Hell yes. Better than average goaltending? Yup, especially if Freddy plays as well as he did last year. But the D isn't great, and you know it. Like with Price, when the goalie plays to the level they're capable of, they make up for a lot of sub-par play. And yes, the Habs suck, and so does Bergevin. Believe me I know.

Although i am a leafs fan and must admit when i first read ek's comment i also thought how could he possibly not include the leafs. i must admit that that was a logical, thoughtout and to the point response without the usual trolling b.s. you normally see on here against the leafs. If more of the responses on here were based in facts we would have a way better site. good job habs fan, you won't hear me say that very often
