I am super excited to see what Laine becomes. Ovi gets his goals from constantly just shooting at the net. It seems like Laine picks his spots with 100% accuracy. |

I can't believe Auston Matthews doesn't rank top 5 on anyone's list. It's ridiculous. |

At least no one went off the board with a crazy pick like Nino Niderreiter. |

Can't go wrong with any of those guys. Think Boeser should get some mention though, probably would if he had played the full season. |

You mean the guy who has been in the league for 5 years with a career high of 57 points. Def rather have him than gaudreau or tarasenko |

Rantanen could be up there if he can repeat next season and prove he's not just riding McKinnon's coattails. |

Agreed.
Same with Boeser playing a full season.
Kyle Connor could also jump into that discussion sooner than later. |

That's only because they didn't ask Tanner to contribute this time. |

As they never should ask him to contribute ever again. That's just my personal bias and because I'm not a fan... |

So yesterday it was Marner over Giroux and Marchand (and one of the reasons was Marner is more entertaining and Giroux is boring - I'm confident Flyers fans were entertained by his 100+ points last year) and today it's (frankin) Nino?
Being contrarian doesn't give one credibility...even when they get 1 in 20 correct. It just provides further evidence that the previous 19 opinions were poorly formed |

Come on, I said nothing about Giroux being boring, and I don't think you should be attacking anyone's credibility if you can't at least stick to the truth in your criticisms.
Nino is ranked where I ranked him because while providing arguably the best defense in the league for a winger, he outscored the pace of Sidney Crosby and Tyler Seguin at even strength.
If I'm being contrary it's because I don't think people factor in defense in their ratings, and not just for the sake of it. Power Play aside, Nino scores almost as much as the wingers on these lists while preventing far more goals.
Nobody says my opinion is the law, it's just what I think. Maybe it's crazy, but the statistical argument in favor of Nino's overall impact, especially if you ignore the power-play (which you should because team's score roughly 20% of the time regardless of who they have, since all first line players on all teams are pretty amazing on the PP) then Nino is even better.
Also, not for nothing, Marian Hossa, the former best defensive winger in the NHL, went to three straight Cup Finals and Five in total, winning three.
Maybe Nino is no Hossa, but the value of this type of player is massively underappreciated. |

So everyone is boring in comparison to Marner, even me. What's your point? |
