...I don't have much fear of a long-term extension not getting done at the end of the day.
This is purely speculation, but it would not be a surprise if the Provorov camp comes in with a demand that is north of the $7.5 million long-term cap hit on Florida Panthers' defenseman Aaron Ekblad. - bmeltzer
I'm with you in believing that this is all but inevitable. I'm guessing it will be at least $8 x 8, and wouldn't be surprised (nor chagrined) were it more.

I still believe Provy's deal will be a monster but well worth it. Doughty's 10 or 11 mil deal kicks in this year or next year, Subban is around 9 mil. If we can get him locked in for 8 years at $8mil that would be terrific. EK should be signed before that as well.
I am not all that familiar with the thinking behind bridge deals other than one side wants to commit long-term to what is being offered. If both sides are far apart next summer, would we offer a bridge deal to avoid other teams making Provy an offer sheet (RFA)?

That would be a bargain, imho. And who doesn't love a bargain? - Scoob
Yeah in 2 seasons it would definitely be a bargain. I can see the Flyers signing him for a league max contract. The kid is legit and his work ethic and professionalism is unreal considering his age.

I don't know how I feel about an 8-year deal at $16M per year.
The flyers contracts under hexy have been wildly inconsistent. Some overpays and some absolute steals. Hard to tell what provy will be but younger flyers so far have seemed to all take team friendly contracts. Coots may be the best contract in hockey if he has another few years like last

Really? Besides Weise which ones do you see as overpays? You might say Amac but I thought he was signed under Homer.
And even then, Amac's contract doesn't look nearly as bad as it once did.
