Meh signing for a meh player... I appreciate his effort and willingness but he really puts the fear into no one in the division or the league.

....okay? I wasn't knocking Gaudreau, BP just puts an awful lot of emphasis on the wingers covering for the D, because Peters' defensemen ALWAYS have the greenlight to jump in on the attack.

Makes it a lot of fun, but can result in a metric (frank)ton of odd man rushes the other way.

Bill's all about maintaining possession of the puck and not taking any risks with it. It's how the Hurricanes managed to consistently outshoot the opposition but lose so damn often. They got tons of shots from the outside with no real traffic, ever. That wasn't a personnel issue, that was by design.

D were supposed to be aggressive in the offensive and neutral zones, wings were expected to be covering their ass with hard backchecks.

This isn't to say I think Peters is a bad coach, because he isn't, I just think he's a very demanding one and you need some very specific player to play his way effectively. I don't think he had that in Carolina, and I'm not sure the current version of the Flames gives him that either. He's pretty hard on players to play his way and doesn't deviate from thatr.
