F Melynk and his cheap ways

No doubt Melnyk's been influencing Dorion somewhat, but the onus for a lot of these signings and trades are squarely on Dorion. Over-evaluating aging players, "character", etc.

We're not getting a new owner anytime soon (enough), but Dorion is really starting to stand out as a bad GM. When two other GMs collude to screw you over as happened with Hoffman, it's pretty clear other GMs don't respect him either. It's becoming clear to me we need an objective new person outside the org to come in and re-evaluate.

He's got the most important quality though, as Melnyk's lap dog.

So put these 2 lists together and you might have the most laughable resume in the history of hockey ops.

All of this has yielded: Magnus Paajarvi, Patrick Sieloff, Mike Condon, Jyrki Jokipakka, Matt Duchene, Marian Gaborik, Filip Gustavsson, Nick Moutrey, Mikkel Boedker, Julius Bergman

Duchene is legit player, but pending UFA, Condon bad extension, and maybe you have something in Gustavsson. The rest are has been's or never will be's.

He may have been a good wingman for Murray but once this bubble bursts this guy will never hold another senior post in hockey ops ever again.

Signings:
* Chris Kelly: D-
* Chris DiDomenico: C+
* Nate Thompson: F
* Johnny Oduya: C-
* Magnus Paajarvi: B-

Trades:
* Alex Chiasson for Patrick Sieloff: B-
* Mika Zibanejad and a 2nd for Derick Brassard and a 7th: C
* 5th for Mike Condon: B+
* Buddy Robinson, Zack Stortini, and a 7th for Tommy Wingels: B-
* Jonathan Dahlen for Alex Burrows: F
* 3rd for Viktor Stalberg: B+
* Curtis Lazar and Mike Kostka for Jyrki Jokipakka and a 2nd: A-
* Kyle Turris, Shane Bowers, Andrew Hammond, 1st, 3rd, for Matt Duchene: C+
* Dion Phaneuf and Nate Thompson for Marian Gaborik and Nick Shore: B+
* Derick Brassard, Vincent Dunn, 3rd, for Filip Gustavsson, Ian Cole, 1st, 3rd: A-
* Nick Shore for a 7th: C-
* Ian Cole for Nick Moutrey and a 3rd: C+
* Mike Hoffman, Cody Donaghey, and a 5th for Mikkel Boedker, Julius Bergman, and a 6th: C-

ANY GM having to do what Dorion is doing , man I don't blame him for some of his mistakes. Look at what he has to deal with. I'm not saying I'm happy with Pierre's moves, especially the past 12 months, but he's not the head of the snake

Great article. Not only is there a lack of good deals, but there is no deal of a value higher than a few million
