Was about to say, those pining for size, here ya go. Entwhistle MIGHT have value. The others look to be AHL lifers.
- Revco38

First guy I looked up, remembered that funky name, Entwhistle.

Big kid! Love his path, In the Toronto Marlboros organIzation (a powerhouse) up thru Minor Midgets. Represented Canada in anything that matters at his age. The Ivan Hlinka and WJC U-18. 3rd rd 2017 pick, a 99, RHS, drafted out of the OHL so he has 2 more yrs there unless he makes the Hawk roster. Played in the Top Prospect game and it looks like they tried him at center but looked to be a wing with Hamilton.

Very very interesting. https://www.eliteprospect...73678/mackenzie-entwistle

Well Kruger does bring a 50+% face off stat to us. 3rd or 4th line for him?
- z1990z

And quality PK experience - sorely needed.

He’s only 28 - absent lingering injuries, he should be playable.

Essentially Hino and Oesterle for Kruger and losing Hossa's contract. Looks like a pretty good deal to me.

lol, I knew it.......I called it... Patches will be a Hawk by the end of the day..

Anisimov + for Patches.... Watch.

The Hawks are going to have a ton of cap space next season if Bowman pulled that deal off..

IMO, Bowman is going to sign Panarin next summer - long-term.

- Savard2Secord

Isn't Pacioretty a rfa after next year? He's gonna want over 7 million per year after that. Stupid to give that to an over 30 year old player.

Q will want Kruger on the roster.
- z1990z

Which is ridiculous, considering the Hurricanes waived him and he ended up playing the rest of the season in the AHL.

Too much negativity here. Losing Vinny is truly unfortunate but that was the price Bowman had to pay to move Hossa and clear cap space up. Ultimately, the team still feels it has enough to contend, and clearing the cap space in order to bring in worthwhile assets (which they haven’t done since this run began) is how they’ll try to move forward.

Ultimately, is Vinny a top line player at this level? Too early to tel but I fee not. He’ll make a solid middle-six player but those are replaceable.

Moving Oesterle for anything is a positive in itself. Look at it as the Hawks are bringing in Kruger on a one-year deal for $1.8M. Not bad considering he won 55% of faceoffs last year, Q obviously trusts him, and he’s still only 28. Everyone wanted a bottom-six center, well now you got one.

The prospects won’t amount to much, but MacKenzie is an 18-year-old who is 6’3” and 175 lbs and clearly can add more size to his frame. He had a solid year in the OHL last season and was a 3rd round pick last year. Not a bad flyer to take.

We’ll see what else is in store, but $8.5M is a lot of dough to work with. Taking on Faulk would still leave you with a bit of cap room to add a top-six winger. Then the team would be ready to roll behind a presumably healthy Crawford.

The Hawks are going to be better.

- TommyHawk

Rather give up Vinny and a 3rd round pick, then a 1st round pick all day long. This is a great move since Krugers contract expires and now Hossa's contract has been taken off the books.

Hopefully Kruger can be a productive 4th line center and honestly rather see him on the first team PK instead of Johnny who's forgotten how to block a shot and AA who struggles to win a face off

I can envision the cconversaation,

StanBo; "Q, you have to play the young guys..."

Q: " Then get me Krugs back so we are at least playing WITH the puck half the time.

McDonut: "But my marketing plan was built around Hoss "

That's the thing about Kruger. He is good if he is healthy. Old Kruger was solid but Kruger of the last few years has been iffy. Still, they moved that dead cap space and got a player that might play, or at least an easier contract to deal with, knowing Kruger only has one year on his deal. The money given to Ward, Kunitz, Kruger, Rutta all go UFA in a year.

never been so happy to here Freddy Krugers name. Good God they need any semblance of decency at center. ...... Guy is a professional centerman that will do everything pretty good except once his team crosses the attack blueline. And on this roster that's welcoming.

And the Hossa money is gone, AND it looks like StanBow has learned that staying out of cap hell is a good thing AND now has 8 mil in space.

3 professional centers in Toews, AA, Kruger. Hossa money gone, 8 mil in cap space, Kruger a UFA next yr, Hino a nice player for sure but right now is just a guy, Entwistle is a reasonable prospect with SIZE. .......

Don't like giving up a 3rd but I really like this trade!! Yo StanBo, nicely done.

But you move AA's cap hit for 1 year, let patches walk. Then you have an extra $4m+ open for next offseason.

I view it as Hino and Oesterle for losing *part* of Hossas contract. Aka we get Kruger representing the portion we couldn't dump

I'm absolutely fine with Kruger coming back, and the Hawks have $8,550,705 to make some additions...

I could see Anisimov being traded too...

And IMO, I really think Patches will land in Chicago (maybe for Anisimov?)

- Savard2Secord

Patches will wind up in Chicago, along with Carey Price, Crawford will probably go to Montreal if he’s healthy, and probably a young Center, is what Montreal wants in return, I am just speculating on the goalie swap I would not be opposed to it, I have no clue moneywise what that would entail, and I am sure there would have to be a lot more maneuvering. But I am thinking that Corey Crawford has ran out his welcome here in Chicago possibly with ownership. They are just keeping it quiet for now until something could be done. And once again this is just speculation.

Because his better days are behind him. If Carolina waived him last year- CAROLINA- that should tell you how he has been performing as of late.

If he can regain his old form and is healthy- great move. Otherwise put him on IR or AHL,

Someone who spent his time in the minors last year, has been moved around because of his terrible contract, and got how many goals last year? Also, he is making how much money? 2.77 million? No thanks.

I get that's an option, but then you're out the assets to acquire Pac and Anisimov alone won't do. Then go waste the cap space on over priced free agents and end up right back where he started, because let's face it gm's can't help themselves July 1 and don't say Panarin please because getting him back at 9 million isn't going to help this situation any.

I'm not sure they would have signed Ward if the plan was to trade CC for a franchise goalie on a huge contract like Price. Doesn't he make 10.5 million per year for 8 more seasons? Also Price was terrible last season, so the Hawks would have 13.5 million tied up in questionable goaltending. Just IMO I can't see it happening.

Why because he couldn’t even stick with the Hurricanes and nobody claimed him off waivers. This Kruger is not the old Kruger from years ago.

No harm done, the rebuild continues, no harm to the cap both now and with term, a solid prospect added and the team got better on the ice for this yr, dealt from strength from numbers at defense.

8 mil in cap space!!! How can the Hawks be the 3rd team in the Karlsson sweepstakes? JT Miller for a 1st? 25 yrs old with a cap hit of 5.2 per for 5 yrs. ... A 5th for Stralman?

Patchs is going to be 30 and UFA. for what we would have to give up we would need to be close to A ST contender and we are not at all. Our goaltending looks terrible and or d looks terrible and PP looks terrible. We cannot give 30 years Long term deals anymore look what happens.

ONE yr Wally. ONE yr and the Hossa money is gone. He's still a professional centerman and how many of those do the Hawks have on this roster?
