Perhaps the Hawks have something with this Mackenzie Entwistle kid eh?

I think the Hawks did a fine job on this deal.. - Savard2Secord
Initially it appears that he might have some potential. He doesn't have an NHL deal either so doesn't count towards the 50.
Moving Hossa's contract was paramount and would cost something. Losing Hinostroza and Oesterle is not a significant price to pay. Hopefully Kruger can be of some value for one more season at least, even in a 4th line PK role. |

Told the Blackhawks have been in talks with Montreal about Pacioretty and Carolina about Skinner. Chicago has approx $8.5M in cap space after today's trade. Possible these talks pick up steam now. |

He is over 5'9" - riozzo
The profile was done in his draft year and I had him listed at 6 foot two, soot sure if this was about him or waht...furthermore, MacKenzie Entwistle is a really tough big kid too. Isn’t Kruger the face off man they lacked? |

If that is the case, I would prefer Patches. Either way...

Hawks do not have $8.5MM in spendable cap. They have only nine forwards on one way deals as of today. Even calling up Kampf/Hayden/Martinsen is another $2MM ish.
More like $6MM |

Realistically, not a bad price to pay to move Hossa's contract. Oesterle won't be missed and the team has too many D anyway. Hinostroza won me over and I wish him all the best. - DarthKane
You're right. Some $$ and warm bodies were coming back regardless. All in all some cap space without the hindrance of the Hossa contract needed to be accounted for at the start of the season and from the brief stuff I've read Entwhistle is only 18 and supposed to be pretty good defensively. I could have done without Kruger coming back though. Heard he was just a disaster last season. |

I wonder if Kruger gets bought out. His cap hit would be $2.775 million for one season, or if he's about out it's $1.55 million in season one and $766,667 in season 2. |

Or they just bury in in Rockford, his cap hit would be $1.75 for one season. |

Marc, Did you see the film on this kid Entwhistle? He has amazing potential. I also have an additional 5th round pick I can give you. And I can throw in any number of 5/6 defenders. And I can then take care of that Paciorrety (sp) problem you have. Hell, make it 2 5th round picks. |

Probably should play with "TBD" on his jersey until the start of the season. |

lol, I knew it.......I called it... Patches will be a Hawk by the end of the day..
Anisimov + for Patches.... Watch.
The Hawks are going to have a ton of cap space next season if Bowman pulled that deal off..
IMO, Bowman is going to sign Panarin next summer - long-term.

Why? it was clear to me last season that Kruger was one (of the many) pieces the Hawks missed last season..... The guy is a beast on draws and playing his PK/defensive specialist game...
I welcome Kruger back, the Hawks bottom 6 are immediately better with him...

Looks good to me if Bowman can pull off the deal for Patches. |

That available cap space number of $8,550,705 is based on the current roster size of 18 (9 forwards, 6 defensemen and 3 goalies). Eliminate 1 goalie (Forsberg) with a cap hit of $750k and your new cap available space is $9,300,705.
Now add the contract of Kahun ($925k), Hayden ($750k) and Forsling ($872.5k) and the available cap space is $6,753,205 on a roster of 20 (11 forwards, 7 defensemen and 2 goalies).
Obviously things will change but Stan now has the ability to be more aggressive in trade talks since he is not in a position of weakness when negotiating due to the financial flexibility he now has.
Let's just hope he doesn't blow it on a contract of too many years and a NMC. Of course with Stan, that is always a possibility. |

I believe the buyout window has closed. Maybe he ends up getting put on waivers. This is the part of the trade that bothers me the most. His salary is more than 1/2 of what Hossa’s was. |

True, and I also believe that he is done- BUT his contract comes off the books at the end of this year so it frees us of Hossa's total cap for 2 additional years.

All Canadian as well.
There have been a lot more Canadians added by Stan (Manning, Ward, Kunitz) which may be coincidence, but it's an interesting trend. - Justin Lowe
And moving out the Prairie State skaters - Darling (last year), Hartman, Hino.... |
