^^ This question still hasn’t been answered by a single NYI fan. ^^
Strange. - As_I_See_It
If i was a player i wouldn't want to come back to the islanders with Snow as the GM and the rest of the joke staff but now with Stanley cup winning coach Barry Trotz in place and Lou as our GM i take a more optimistic approach down the line. so its a tough question to answer. Time will tell. I am not planning the parade but i am optimistic. If snow and weight were still they i would say we are done and the franchise would be in trouble. |

he's leaving this sinking ship as well soon. - plantheparade
Barzal will want out for sure. Dude can't be happy with that appalling roster. Islanders and Nucks have monopolized the 4th line forward market |

This is a nice deflection but doesn't absolve the fact that comments on the years of struggle for the Isles kind of match... well the Maple Leafs.
Nobody said they were in the same place currently.

Barzal is our Franchise player. 85 points in his rookie year. he had more points than JT. I see Barzal becoming a 100 point player this year or next. he is so fast and dynamic. he is a winner. - Hockeyislife

there was literally a guy that said Arizona is a better team to join than Leafs |

Toronto currently reminds me of the early Penguins when Crosby first there. Overhyped due to amazing offense, but still weak at defense which is why it took them a while to really get past hype to be a true contender. I think Toronto is now at that juncture. Must shore up D and learn how to become a contender as opposed to just being a playoff team. - B.D. Gallof
What did Pitts D look like their last cup? No Letang either, was out! |

If I was a player I would take less money to go on a Stanley cup team. I would pic Washington Vegas Tampa Boston or Nashville. Those teams have a great chance of winning the cup. Leafs provide nothing they haven't won a round in 14 years. Arizona has a better chance of winning a round than the leafs I would pic them over the Leafs. When leafs win a round come talk to me. Until then they are a joke - Hockeyislife
You are seriously one of the worst hockey "fans" ever. Clearly have no idea how hockey works.
Why don't you go grab a gallon of ice cream, sit on your couch and cry like a little NYI emo kid.

Everytime I see a home NYI game I feel like I’m watching the Spengler Cup. It’s even worse when Romanuk is calling the game. |

How is winning 7 rounds of playoffs oppose to your 1 round over that course alike?
Anyways, who cares about the past. None of that matters..

For me its all about winning. I saw my team win cups in the 80s. i was a teenager back then now i am closing in on fifty its been a long time but i did see a Stanley cup winning game. I was close to giving up this team before Trotz and Lou were hired. now i am optimistic again. still in shock that Trotz left the caps after winning the cup but he is the islanders coach and i am optimistic. Time will tell. Its all about winning all that matters. |

Islanders struggles include a point that you did not discuss. They have been dead last or close to the bottom in attendance in the NHL for several years. They are currently a team that is losing money. Wealthy but horrible owner Wang is gone - thankfully for this franchise - as is Garth Snow - who was (out of the blue) promoted to being GM of the organization, without any prior experience directly from being a not so great backup goalie. His moves included signing perhaps the worst contract in NHL history with Rick Dipietro. A cash poor franchise cannot afford to have incompetent ownership or management - to a greater extent than a rich team like for example the Rangers. Tavares made the right move - it might sting, but the Islanders are not ready to contend just yet. Can't think of many players in the NHL that are more classy than JT.

Yeah and we did a lot of that last year. 49 wins and 105pts. And our core is aged 20-24. We got a lot of years left to win a ton |

Isles in Barclays and now the coliseum have a capacity of a little over 15 thousand . they are sold out at coliseum . once they move to Belmont they will have a 18 thousand seat arena but until then they will be hurting in attendance. once the team moves to Belmont they will be a Stanley cup contender |

Not a fan of either team. That being said, i’ll Say it again, scumbag move! If I was an islander, the first time he had his head down, BOOM! - Hokeeguy9
LOL what a dumb comment....all you people on your high horses are ridiculous. Have you never switched jobs for another job because you thought it was a better opportunity for you, or for personal reasons?
Just stupidity. I get the passion from NYI's fans, cause I would be upset too, but from other fan bases, just idiotic... |
