I'm going to have to disagree as a person that gets blood test and gets checkups by doctors because I like to see results of different foods to see if they change my body

I'm in the superior range as the doctor say

He's already played against NHL players it's not like he's going in cold feet he has more experience then Connor McDavid had before he entered the league

Just saying historically defenseman take longer to develope. I’m expecting somewhere between 30-40 points year one.

for Reference Will Butcher and Mikhali Sergachev each had 40+ points this year.

Myers had 47 points in his first season.

45-50 points is not that high of an expectation IMO.

There is such a thing as being too close, too.

Edit: By that I mean every little thing gets amplified because we're so close to it.

EXACTLY
When u see guys on a nightly basis,
there’s a cumulative effect when you’re noticing their flaws over & over
This generally leads to overreaction on how “terrible” they are

You could be right. But all the guys you mentioned were joining playoff teams/very good teams in their first year. Dahlin is joining a last place team. Something to consider

Dahlin’s points will be dependent on whether he’s on PP1 or PP2
He could very well start on the 2nd unit

Just think it's good to be hearing all this from coaches, players and the like. Trust me I don't think he's coming in next year and becoming the Great One. I am happy to, hopefully, get a number one defender for the first time in twenty years though.

We shouldn't go long-term with Sam

3 years that's it

- gerbe75pts

If you can get a long term deal for Sam around $5.5 mil per you absolutely do it

Because if he signs a 3 year bridge guess who's going to be due to a new contract then?

Dahlin

2 year deal means he will be coming due with his next deal the same time as...

Mittelstadt

It's risky business

I don’t see Sam signing long term either. But I see Botts being the unwilling partner in the deal. Although, really what’s the difference. 2 years, 4.25 I’ll guess.

You're probably correct

Reinhart would probably be hoping for a bridge deal in the $4.5-$5 million range

Botterill is hoping for a long term deal in the $5-$5.75 million range

Yeah, and there’s no chance in hell Reinhart signs that IMO.

He will get 6.5-7 easily if he puts up a 30 goal year on a 1 year deal

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Botts shoot for a 6 year deal at 5M a season. If we give him a 2 year deal he and Mittelstadt are due for contracts at the same time with Dahlin being the year after. If we give him 3 years then Dahlin and Sam are both RFA’s the same year again. Getting him locked up long term now could be a bargain in the future.

Can't see them agreeing on a long term deal. On a bridge deal, Sam should want 1 year, JB should want 3 years. I think they settle at 2 at around 5m.
