"Some extra rest for him isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially when you consider he’s likely to be one of those players that plays effectively into his late 30’s. "

... :\

Who expects that? He is out 6 months before the season starts and he plays a type of game that promotes wear and tear on him.

On a related note, who pays the salary cap penalty when he retires early? MTL or Nash?

By all accounts Burrows was an excellent guy off the ice, on, he was full-on POS. Never liked his BS on the ice. Scored some big playoff goals I think though.

Drouin should be on the wing unless they want a new Galchenyuk.

At this point, I'd try Domi and Drouin at centre during training camp and give the job to the one who sucks less...

Nashville has a ~24 million cap recapture penalty that will be divided equally by the number of years remaining on Weber's contract when he retires.

I would put both guys on the wing.

Because that's where they are the most comfortable playing/the most effective.

Bingo, let the natural Cs battle it out even if they're not that great.

Danault/DLR/Plekanec/Froese/Evans/Kotkatniemi

The guys that actually play centre.

Pacioretty has been producing with a bad centre for years! Good players find a way.

What good players might have trouble doing, is being put a in a role they don't really feel comfortable in.

Naturals C will tend to sag as they get older, that's why I don't mind a good fake C. 32-34

Smillie, Plekanec could be missing both eyes and I would still slot him above De la Rose on the depth chart.

The C positions currently look like this from 1st line to 4th: Drouin, Danault, DLR, Plekanec.

Most likely yes. It's for the best.

I wonder how Evans will fare this season.
