I hope you guys make the playoffs. Love seeing the skill. Need Flames, Sharks, Knights, Blues, Preds, Jets, Oilers, and Stars to make it. |

Probably the end of Kulak as a Flame. |

no thanks
filing is just standard practice for agents, nothing much to read in to here
No point in buying out Brouwer unless/until you need the space...buying him out now just prolongs his cap hit |

I’d rather give away Stone for a 7th rounder than lose Kulak |

???? why would you come to that conclusion? RFA's have little leverage & this is one thing that speeds up negotiations. How does that equate to being the end for Kulak. |

They already have 5 better defencemen signed to NHL contracts, They signed Prout to be the 7th defenceman, and Andersson, Kylington, and Välimäki are all cheaper and probably better than Kulak. There's not really a spot for him.

Kulak is better than stone and prout, I would say there's about 0% chance they let kulak go

Yeah, he's better than Prout, but Prout is only on the team to be the 7th defenceman who's only going to play whenever they want someone to fight Lucic. |

So how does jettisoning a serviceable 5-6 D man who will maybe get a $1.0mill per year deal solve your cap issues? Even if the arbitrator awards him 1.4 mill per you keep him. |

So the solution is simple, trade Stone. Once Karlsson & Faulk trades get complete, the D market is pretty thin & even if you just get a 3rd round pick back, whatever. |

He has a 15 team no-trade list. It's not going to be easy to move him. He's only getting traded if he wants to get traded. |

They have 3 guys who are probably ready to start their NHL careers, are probably better than Kulak, and are definitely cheaper.

I think stone could be convinced to waive to Ottawa fairly easily. He would get to play more minutes on a team with his brother.
You have to think he has some concerns over the depth nipping at his heels. If he’s supplanted by rookies it won’t really look good for him when he’s trying to find work his next contract. |

Plus the Sens would have interest because it helps them lock up Mark Stone long-term. |

He signed for cheap in Calgary knowing full well they were going to give him a reduced role. People also assume that getting to play with his brother is going to trump everything else. Maybe that's not really that big a deal for him. |

You are being unrealistic here. Most players want a say. But if that decision is going from a team that has told you outright that you will have such a reduced role as possible pressbox or accept a trade to an NHL team that can give him a much bigger role, they will green light the trade. We arent talking about a Tavares or E Karlsson here. Im sure he would like to continue his hockey career once his 2 years is up. Right? |

If that contract is ‘cheap’ I’d hate to see what his market value would be
It might not be a big deal to some, but a lot of guys definitely prefer to play with their brothers. You don’t become a professional athlete by being okay with not playing. He might want to stay—I just think it would be a pretty poor career choice from his perspective. |

Pretty sure most players want reduced minutes and roles so that they can stay with the same team, even when asked for a trade.
Who would want the chance to play more minutes and make more money? |

Exactly. He might end up the 7th dman in Calgary. If some other team is desperate for second pairing D and they want him, he'd be crazy to turn it down. |
