To make him play with a true no1 center in Barzal. Pacioretty was able to score 35 with David Desharnais lol. Barzal is one hell of a playmaker, combine these 2 with Lee, Bailey or Eberle and it's a pretty good first line.
Also, nobody said anything about NYI giving prospects and picks. Bergevin likes Beauvillier and he's not considered a prospect anymore. He's part of their future but if we're able to sign Pacioretty long term before trading him, it might be worth it for them if they see more value in him.
Only Anders Lee can fill the puck with goal, but with Tavares gone, it might be a different story. Bellows and Wahlstrom will probably help putting pucks in net, but nobody knows when they will and how good they will be.

No question Pacioretty would benefit from an good offensive C!
You mention Eberle and Lee, both UFA next summer, with what happened with JT, any guarantees these guys re-up on the Island?
Also all this mention of filling nets without mentioning the Isles from their own blue line back is kind of the way the team is built right now...
And again, never said it won't happen, only that it would make little sense right now and a trade to a contender a far more probable
