Anything is possible, I guess...would be cap hell in 1-2 years. However, he could probably do Kapanen, Liljegren, B-level prospect, 1st in 2019, Horton FOR Karlsson, Ryan

Horton added as he has 2 years left on 5.3mil cap hit as it would help balance Ryan over next coupe of years. Although, TOR would probably do it without Horton as well. Although, cap wise Zaitsev would make sense to add to the deal (vs Kapanen) given $4.5 and term...basically, you add $7mil to upgrade to Karlsson...

Too bad for OTT though, they could very well end up with #1 pick next year...well, COL would have it...

- mventres

The thing with the Horton contract is that it wasn't insured

The Leafs literally eat that 5.3 million in cash for a guy who will never play again, Good luck getting Melnyk to take that on, or anyone else

It was the reason the BlueJackets did the deal for Clarkson

Yes Guy. I will take Cap Hell for a legitimate shot at the cup. Any of your suggestions would work, although I'd prefer to move Zaitsev before we have to send his ass to Robidas Island.

Sergachev will go to Ottawa

Ryan to rangers

Sens are stupid idiots for doing this if the return is just Sergachev. Karlsson is a show in HHOF'er and is on a level I doubt Sergachev ever reaches

The stupid thing is, he doesn't realize he can come back with alt, and if he keeps his mouth shut, nobody is the wiser.

He's obviously not smart enough to do that.

Well, assuming it's TB...they have a significant advantage wrt cap that only FLA matches: state income tax is 0%! This means they can offer less, but the player effectively makes the same. Hence, they can make more effective use of their cap $$ (it's kinda not fair actually, and at some point the NHL will need to deal with that in a CBA). So, TB offering say $9mil, will be like LA/SJ/ANA offering $10.5-11.
- mventres

It is fair. It’s not the players or teams fault that dogpoop states have ridiculous taxes.

Tampa has 11mil in defense man coming off the books next year. They are sitting quite better with the cap than I would have imagined. Projected to have like 23mil in cap space next year.

With a guaranteed extension that would be yuuge unders paid there. Dorian should be fired asap especially after not getting Hoffman traded at the deadline. Gross incomptance deserves no employment.

So funny seeing Ek in a mad scramble trying to post things that have been released by teams or by TSN under his name as a "roomer" as everyone of his guesses has been wrong this draft season. I mean he's put out easy a thousand "roomers" and haven't hit on anything. So pathetic its funny.

I am confident now that when the Sens were talking (paraphrasing) about people who clearly want to stay with the organization they did not talk about Karlsson but more about Stone. I do not blame Karlsson for any of it though, after such a year I would also like a change of scenery....

After reading multiple sources:

- Karlsson is likely going to Tampa, apparently there is already an extension in place, and the return will be Sergachev+

-Indications that a NMC was waived to make the deal happen, this must be Callahan in that case.

- The third team (NYR?) possibly dropped out, which is why the deal wasn't finalized last night. Devils are now in talks with Tampa apparently.

I may have sequence backwards. But, did Karlsson not say he wanted to stay with the Senators. After that the Sens shopped Karlsson at the deadline. Fans who think Karlsson should remain loyal to the Sens after being rooted around by them are goofy. Melnyk is about Melnyk and nothing else. If this week helps us rid ourselves of Melnyk it will a critical turning point in the insanity.

Don’t ever let evidence, telling everyone your Ottawa underachievers really are crappy, crush October’s unsustainable naive thrills.

Can't wait for Tampa to become worse now, and in the future by signing this anchor of a contract.

Traditional summer celebration. Long time since Leafs have ever won a playoff round. They have had some historic chokes recently. Not sure anything has changed with Leafs.

I will enjoy cheering for Bolts and Karlsson this winter. And, I will certainly get out to a few games.

So, are you switching the teams you cheer for again?

Or are you going to spend all summer arguing that the Sens are in a better position than the Leafs.

Have you not noticed my location. I will continue to support Sens. I have no difficulty following and supporting Bolts. When they play each other I can go to game and just enjoy watching the world's greatest sport.

You know you're a laughing stock when people say they got "Spatsoed". You're a legend, for truly the wrong reasons.

Aeth was bang on with his comment. That's why we rarely see you on the Leaf boards anymore. Best to admit you were never a Leaf fan! Makes us all look bad when you do.
