I'd love for the Pens to pick up Duclair, but not at the expense of Brassard. I would just be running a rotation of Cullen, Duclair, ZAR and Simon until you see what sticks.

If he's cheap and doesn't cost assets, why not? He's still young and has potential...plays LW.

Im totally down if he's on the cheap.

I still can't wrap my head around the Cullen signing. Even if Brassard was traded would it not make sense to put Simon in the 4th line center hole?

I would imagine he wont play every game (skip back to backs) will mainly play LW and take important D-zone/PK faceoffs.

Yea, Cullen should have just pulled the Mike Fisher and signed a month before the playoffs begin....If he plays 50 games this regular season thats probably too much. He was signed for the post season only.

Simon's a wing. I'd like to give Bleuger a shot, but you need a hedge against Bleuger not actually being good even if the staff is high on him.

Duclair would be a great low risk move. Another guy who could move up and down the lineup, could fill everything Sheary did (possibly more) at 1/3rd of the price.

Pens are running out of roster spots but I'm expecting Simon to get traded for a D prospect or a mid/late pick before the season starts.

Dont count on Simon being traded....

In an interview with Czech outlet @iDNEScz, Dominik Simon said Sidney Crosby extended an offer to train with him in Halifax this summer. Also, he turned down a much higher offer from a Russian team than the two-year/$750K deal he signed with the Penguins:

Simon does play wing but his natural position is center just like Jake Guentzel.

Almost every good hockey player plays center coming up. Their position changes when they reach higher levels of competition. Jake Guentzel can no longer play center full time despite the fact that was his position in the NCAA. The same goes for Simon.

Yea Simon is not gonna be a Center, and it's still a huge question mark on Blueger being a center. I feel that if Blueger made the team he would end up being a winger, but we shall see.

Any hint that brassard might want out and might have told pens that? He didn’t fit in great for a variety of reasons and may want number two Ice time due to contract year... I don’t want to see him gone but there’s a lot of noise despite his being a solid piece

I thought I recalled him making a comment about not wanting to be a 3rd center or something along those lines.

This is his last chance at a huge contract, so obviously a big year for him. No idea what he is thinking or what would be better for him... Better to get in with a team he can feature as a 2C or try to pad the stats playing as a 3C behind two prolific players.

Not for or against trading him but he would have massive value given his cap hit and the fact his salary this year is only $1M.

Yeah, I just can't imagine anything like that.

A) I wouldn't even want to give up Simon, a 1st & 2nd for him, let alone throwing in Brassard.

B) If he turned down an 8/$64M deal from LA, I want nothing to do with a long term extension.

As long as he doesn't dump the puck or just shoot it off the glass. Those are bad for his analytics.

I would only do this if the sign and trade was Montreal signing him and then retaining half his salary throughout his newly resigned contract term and we received picks from them and possibly another player. We gave up so much for Brassard already why give up another first?
