I think Lou is going to turn GM duties over to Hunter when he is cleared to be hired. Lou will stay on as President. What Lou needs to do is get the front office ship shape and upgrade the scouting talent. This is a lost season, Islanders (even with Barzal) are a lottery team. Right now, they need to pick their spots carefully and work toward 3 - 5 years. Which is what the franchise has been doing for 30 years now. Maybe this time it'll work because we have Lou/Trotz? IDK. I see the Islanders as nothing more than a farm team for the NHL right now. They can't bring in decent FAs. They can't keep their own cornerstone guys. What if Lee and Eberle want out at the end of the season? Tavares set a dangerous precedent and showed the other young talent it's ok to leave. You'll never win on the Island. |

I wonder if the outcome of the last few days might be the best thing that could have happened to the Islanders. Nothing has happened during 9 years of Tavares leadership. Last year the young guys started to take over. Tavares did not lead the team in scoring. If Lou gets the Islanders some decent goaltending and a solid #1 Dman they will be a fun team with a bright future that can compete every night.
So, if his adding a few vets is merely supporting the development of the kids it is probably wise. I thought the Islanders 2018 draft was amazing. |

All you have to think about is this. Would this team have a better shot at UFAs and being taken seriously with Snow or Lou at the top? That's really all that matters at this point. |

The GM's job is to also tend to the players that remain on the roster. He needs time and I also have confidence that he and Trots can both spot the right player attitudes. |

Hey BD, you seem to have a grudge against Lou for cleaning house and ridding us from Garth and his puppies. Do you happen to share Snow's basement with Cappy? |

LOU #1: There are Stanley Cup rings from a bygone era of clutch and grabbing, the trap, and a totally different NHL.
You won't have anything to worry about; you have no idea how he succeeded. |

Hunter will be available July 15th. I agree, get the front office straightened out, play the kids and plan on becoming competitive as Belmont gets closer. We've waited 2 decades, what's 2-3 more years?

Hunter's drafting in Toronto was terrible. Be careful what you wish for.
I think a much more likely scenario is Lou grooming his son to become GM. |

If so, will need a lot of work. Before last season he was in charge of AHL. Only been assistant GM since last summer |

Went through this last night & I'm glad you ev pointed it out as the Islanders blogger. This worship some fans have of Lou is misguided in my opinion, & referring to his Devils success is very naive at best.
The Leafs have come out & explained they have worked on getting Tavares for 4 months, how long was Lou working on getting him? Imagine Tavares sitting down & listening to Lou give him a spiel about playing for the Islanders? What could Lou possibly know about the team, its history & how could he try & convince a player to stay? Flip over to the Leafs who have worked hard & you have the Leafs pulling at his heart strings about going home, Shanahan talking about what it's like to be a Toronto boy (which he is one), talking about the history of the club & being able to understand what Tavares might be thinking.
I believe it was a huge error in the Islanders organisation to just hand Lou the keys & tell him to weave some magic. What does Tavares even think about Lou? |

Everyone in Leafland raved about Hunters drafting up until a month or so ago.
Please explain your POV. |

If you must talk out your ass, please refrain from being arrogant. Lou traded Oduya and Cormier for Kovy prior to signing him later that summer. Ever heard of google? |

Trade idea now the JT is gone. Nelson and Ladd to Oilers for Hopkins and Luci . Islanders can take on the salaries and Ladd an Luci both need a change and Hopkins can be our #2 center
Barzal- Eberle-Beau
Hopkins- Bailey-Lee
