Tavares is staying with the Islanders. He just got five free lunches.

If you can add an elite talent without trading anything it's worth it. That said, there is a salary cap and my team already has a better player they'll soon have to pay 11mil. I'd take a long term contract for anything under 10 though. If JT is willing.

A little quick to crown Auston a better player. Tavares had 84 points vs Matthews 63 points and wasnt being hidden from teams top lines.

Matthews had 63 points in 62 games. So pretty much the same as Tavares ppg.
He also has more points and more goals after two seasons (in which Matthews played less games). So calling Matthews better isn't such a stretch, although Tavares is obviously a great player too. I'm not saying for sure Matthews is better, just that there is a good argument for it. Both are amazing talents.

I agree that the time of the interview doesn't mean much. How long does it really take to explain your offer and why they should join your team?
If Tavares wasn't convinced from a 2 hour meeting, I doubt sticking around annoying him for another half an hour gets the job done.

I don’t see it happening. But obviously it would vault our team in a huge way.

I don’t know how to move the Krejci contract though.. and I’m in the minority that doesn’t want to. I think he had a decent bounce back year despite the constant rotation or linemates due to injuries

I mean sure, his leadership and drive have really put the islanders over the top. Bruins have about 12 mil in cap space I believe, I don’t see it happening.
