Don't even care. He was better than Darling and played on a pretty sub-par Canes team.

Clearly the Hawks aren't going to be able to get a guy like Hutton or better. So, let's hopefully improve the blueline and scoop up a workhorse like Ward.

I'm not waiting around for CC and I don't think the Hawks are either.

Oh, okay so because he wasn't the worst on his team, that means we should ignore the fact that he hasn't been good since the Hawks won their first cup. Playing a lot does not = good.

Over the last 5 seasons, Cam Ward has been the worst goalie in the NHL in terms of GSAA.

And you don’t even need advanced metrics to prove that he’s been beyond horrid. Based off the few Carolina games I saw last season, he simply allowed too many softies, made too few big saves, and looks beyond done at the age of 34.

I think Ward has been one of the most over rated goalie for years now

Simmer down, brother.

Obviously, we all want the Hawks to bring in a good goalie, but the options are extremely limited. Would you prefer Lehner?

Grabbing a veteran like Ward isn't an awful move. I certainly don't want Darling back--not with that contract and his play last year.

Ivan Nalimov could be included in a trade to Carolina, or where ever, too.

Ward should be better here, he won't have Faulks horrible D zone skill in front of him.

I joke that Carolina made a deal with the devil for rookie Ward to have that playoff run and the payment was that all goalies after would be cursed, including Ward. But yeah, he's been baaaaad for a while.

Not sure what you mean, as I was using it in the context of how a pro wrestler does.

I would agree with GM StLB.

Hope Crawford comes back healthy and plays 55+ games like the goalie he has been over the last few years. Keep Forsberg as the back up and develop him. Hope the team defense (forwards and d-men) is a lot better the 2nd year under Ulfie. Hopefully add a top 4 defender through trade or FA. Expect improvements on the back end especially from Murphy, Rutta, Forsling, Gus.

If Crow is not healthy do any of the free agents give you confidence that the Hawks can make the playoffs or a cup run? If not why bring them in and tie up cap space and still suck.

If Crow is not healthy basically sink or swim with Forsberg. If he sucks you have a low lottery pick next year. Go with Forsberg as your main starter and but give plenty of starts to one of Berube, Delia, Lankinen. Put Crow on LTIR on day one of the season and see which goalie is still available on day one of the season. (There is always a veteran free agent that goes unsigned or a team that wants to move one cheaply).

Without Crow next year is another year to develop the kids, see if Stan can continue to retool the roster, see if Q can coach up the kids and a team with marginal talent. If not you make a decision on Stan & Q, bring up Colliton, and have a low lottery pick.

Anderson scares me - too expensive, too old, term left on his contract. I think that Hossa's cap hit can be put to better use.
- 67hawks

My fear is that sending Hossa's contract to any other team will involve another asset - Ottawa seems to be the prime landing spot.
Anderson only has 2 years left - at a cheaper hit than Hossa, and Crow.

Cam Ward?! That's like bringing a salad to a BBQ. It's a nice gesture and all, it might do some good, but in reality, who wants a f* salad at a BBQ? Nice gesture, cheap backup..... but can't do the job...

Honestly, though, why have Cam Ward who statistically terrible with a defense that isn't exactly all there? Let's be honest, you can have a Turco with a solid defense. I could stand infront of the net too if the Hawks provided me with some money and hope for the best.

I'm surprised the Canes are trading him.

Proven goal-scorer and talented guy. Injury issues, sure, but I feel like he's guy you want around with this young team.

But...I guess if you can get some nice pieces back, then maybe it's a good move.
