If Im not mistaken, if we didnt do the Duclair deal, wouldnt Panik and his contract be on the books in '18 for $2MM? So we took a flyer on Duclair.....didnt work out. BUT, we rid ourself of the Panik $$ in '18. all in all, worked out net positive - Thoughts? - glennjpawlak22
So far so good.
But Stan isn't finished trading yet. He may bring Panik back!! |

Ha ha. But so far it looks like one of his better moves getting rid of Panik and his contract.
Panik did look good at times in his contract year though- played big boy hockey but all but disappeared last year...

Off topic...but planning a Hawks road game trip with my buds. We have narrowed it to three cities. St. Louis, Philadelphia or Pittsburgh. Of the three, which is easiest to get tickets to? Preferably good seats and not up in the rafters. Any thoughts? Thanks. |

I myself use an app, vivid seats, type in arena and it'll give you dates and such of events.... |

Looked up Scottrade arena in Oct, $150+ for good seats |

So went on Vivid and Pittsburgh is very expensive. Philly and St. Louis were better priced...and looks like Philly had more options available. |

The smart thing to do would be to do whatever is necessary (minus trading A level prospects) to move Crawford, Seabrook and Anisimov and tank again for a top 5 pick. This team is so far away from Cup contention when compared to every other team above them in the West, it's nothing more than a fanboys dream to think they have a shot in the Central Division this year with some minor tinkering. Hawks need to tank again this year, shed as much cap space as possible in the process, hope for another couple million dollar salary cap increase next summer, and then have a realistic goal to compete again in 2020.

Been to St. Louis numerous times, easy to get tickets. Often have gotten them on the secondary market cheaper than box office. |

Here's a name I can see as a trade target for the Hawks -
Gustav Nyqvist
Swede...hawks love those
Age 28
Cap hit- 4.75
I think he has 1yr left on his deal and plays either wing. With them drafting Zadina I wonder if he becomes expendable

I remember that time Bolland annihilated Nyquist causing him to cough up the puck to Seabs to seal that beautiful game 7 OT winner in 2013. Good times. Gooooooood timessssssssss.

He would be a good fit providing skill/speed/playmaking on the RW with Toews and Saad. |

Season tickets are still being finalized by all teams, packages and loose seats are still outstanding. Wait until there's much more supply until pulling the trigger. |

Apparently Bergevin came close to trading Max Pacioretty to the Islanders for either the 11th or 12th overall pick, which he would have then flipped to BUF for O’Reilly. Deal was on the table according to Engels, but Isles decided other wise once Wahlstrom & Dobson fell to them.
Indeed. 100 Christmas' in one day!! |

Looking at the Wings, I'm wondering how much they will have to pay Larkin (and Mantha + Athanasiou). |

Ideal scenario would be all three get paid peanuts because they all end up sucking and the Wings suck too because of it. |

If this was the plan they’d should have started executing it before the draft.
Look so like another long season |

Although I would like to see Krys play all 4 years at BU, he's likely to do the same thing as Hillman and Gilbert and sign with the Hawks after this coming junior year. From there, I'd expect him to spend at least one if not two years in Rockford before getting a call up for a cup of coffee or extended look.
Another possible scenario is that he's used as a trade chip. As others have said before, we're stocked now with defensive prospects so we can afford to flip some of them to fill team needs. I'd think that Jokiharju, Mitchell, and especially Boqvist are off limits (all 3 are righties) but everyone else like Krys and Forsling are fair game. |
