Needed a center nope another smurf what a surprise drafted the same position awsome now we have 150 d prospects and no centers goalies ir top 6 wingers in are system yea can please fire this ass clown already wilde samulson noel again ignored size and physical play if iwas a hawk player i would asking for a trade so i don't get my head bashed because we have no push back playera that will have each other back watch bowman goes out and slow footed luci - Scott1977
Yeah, this prospect pool is not looking good. Even though these guys will not be ready in a few years tops, they're really lacking balance. A lot of undersized skill guys and not enough guys to play in the dirty areas and along the boards. Is Stan trying to sabotage this franchise and intentionally trying to get fired? He better have something big up his sleeve to save his job. I really wish they drafted Walstrome and Samuelsson for that balance in size. |

Why? We all knew how this was going to play out. Islanders had a fantastic 1st round. |

Disappointed Veleno wasn't the pick. I was hoping for a quality center ice prospect with that late first pick. It's been obvious for years that the Hawks depth at C was nearly as bad as the blueline.
Apparently SB believes the Hawks are fine down the middle. |

Dude, they are not many bigger fans of the country of Canada that goes waaaaaaaaaaay beyond hockey. Had the honor to play in a tournament up there as a 25 yr and fell in love with the country.

I like all the analysis I've read on the kid. - Mr Ricochet
I hope his game translates to the pro level, he does seem highly skilled. Although, I like a defenseman who is strong in their own zone. I guess he has a few years to develop that part of his game. |

Justin,
That is fine in the regular season, but playoff hockey is a bar fight in a phone booth. The ice shrinks and size/strength really come into play. As bad as we were in protecting our own net, one would have thought some size mixed with skill was in order. - z1990z
you get the size later...you get as much dynamic fast acting attackers as you can...look at some of those defenders taken I didn't have there in the first...they work well up on the attack.... |

Samuelson still available if they seeing a trade for a #2 round. Committed to collegiate but maybe Bowman gets fired and they bring Samuelson out of collegiate early. Right. Someone will get him as a great choice. R ad his review. Or if you like Mr Richochet choice because they cannot keep all these offensive dmen |

If you find SB to be a joke, then shouldn't you be calling for SB's firing?
You clearly would not want him in charge of the rebuild. |

I wonder how many people would have cried when the hawks drafted a small skinny Duncan Keith.
Turned out pretty good for that smurf
If 1 of these guys turns out to be him, well worth it |

Bill - Sportsnet used your analysis on their ticker right after the draft. Good work!
"New age defender with good puck movement skills" Draftsite.com - Justin Lowe
tell me what that means and where I can find it?
I know Rogers owns it...I am gonna figure it is their on line ticker - I went there couldn't find it....

For sure he should be fired. Should have been shown the door last year. I wouldn't want him managing a junior C team |

when I was looking for the Beaudin shout out, I found this on sportsnet:
But perhaps one of the reasons why defencemen Noah Dobson, Quinn Hughes and Evan Bouchard are currently projected to go higher in this year’s draft is that they have better reputations in their own end.
Not that teams should be shying away from Boqvist. Most would put a premium on his influence in controlling possession, knowing that’ll mitigate whatever flaws there are in his defensive game. And they’ll consider that as his body fills out over time—and as he benefits from pro coaching—he’ll find his way in the D-zone.

Not with Bowman in charge of it. I wonder if Theo Epstein knows anything about hockey.

Agreed! Bowman doubled down on arguably the same player with less upside at #27 compared to 8. Add that with henjri and Ian from last year and we can see what Stan dreams about at night. For a team that was committed to be harder to play against last year, it seems to be they scratched that idea. I would love to see AA traded for an early 2nd and bring in Samuelson. Adding size and eventually trading an undersize defensive prospect for a forward. It has me thinking that Forsling is attached to a deal/moving soon. Hopefully a better Day tomorrow.

Whatever, these smallish, defensive challenged, offensive puck movers may turn out to be Erik Karlsson V2.0. Or maybe not. |

Yep, same with Boqvist developing his game at his pace with an arrival date of 2-3 yrs. I have to say that I have new found respect for Stan. With his job possibly being on the line he drafted as if he were gonna be here for 20 more yrs.
Took players that fit their speed/skill organIzational MO with no concern for their arrival date and didn't trade any picks. ....... If Bovquist hits his ceiling he has a 60 point Dman running the PP.

The defense prospect pool looks great, actually. Best it's looked in modern times imo. Lot of high quality talent, puck moving, high IQ guys - they're just all mostly similar in style. That's okay because not all of them can be on the Hawks anyway - they'll be good pieces to use in trades as well.
I'd have preferred Wilde or Sandin with the #27 if they were leaning towards defense, and don't care much about the guy they actually got, but they have a lot of quality assets now at defense.
And honestly, I wonder if drafting so many of similar type d-men may suggest they'll try to trade some of those to a team that has the opposite problem - like Philly - or for an established d-man in that vein that a team wants to move on from - like Boston or Carolina. |

Stan is Stan. Nothing is going to change now. Harder to play against? With Stan and Q running the show? Only one more year of this then they both will be gone. |
