http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Adam-French/Mockable-Mock-Draft--Strained-Agony-Picks-26-28/155/93509

HB blogger Adam French has been doing his own mock draft and has the Hawks taking Tkachuk at 8th and Slovakian defender Martin Fehervary at 27th. Don't know much about him but I like French's description which focuses a lot on Fehervary's strengths playing actual defense. French's comparable for him is Jonas Brodin.

- AEL_Fox

Martin Fehérváry is in the 100's on my mock list- he in NO way a player you take in the first round...believe there are REALLY MANY good options on the defense if they go forward with the first pick.

Here is my profile on draft site, where anybody can go for free and click on any guy in any round and see the stuff I wrote in the evaluation:
Martin Fehérváry. 6' 190 lbs.
Slovak defender who has played the last four years in Sweden. A very good skater with lateral agility and a good stride. Good gap control and processing in the defensive end. Can make the home run pass from his end, and has a willingness to carry the puck out of trouble. Basically sticks to the system. A player with small point totals but the upside to elevate his offensive production as he continues to develop. Had only ten total points during the season and playoff; a workhorse earning tons of ice time. He likes the puck on his stick and has an aggressive side. Still far from a finished product who looks to challenge for a pro job in the not too distant future. His offensive side really hasn't blossomed yet.

You can get defenders

Is French is he the guy who was the Arizona blogger who wouldn't let go, that O E-L was the best defenseman in the NHL...? not sure....

if you are at #27 and want a defender take Rasmus Sandin, or Bode Wilde, or the big stiff guy Samuelsson or the Josh Manson clone Jared McIsaac , or or Ginning or Jacob Bernard-Docker or K'Andre Miller giant Kevin Bahl over Fehérváry.....go see the profiles

The Entry Draft has been like a yo yo at various times since the WJC. Originally the thought process was you must take a dman because until one of many dmen we have (or could draft) graduates and becomes a top dman, Chicago has to address that area first and foremost. As the draft order and favoritism for the many top dmen lost steam, the support for Hughes though increased.

You can guess that we have Jokiharju as a possible second pair. I do not get too caught up in, there is no projection for a #1 dman in our pipeline. Few dmen most drafts actually are projectable at their tender age to have a first pair ceiling.

In fact, of the top rated dmen this draft..... how many project as top pair. How soon? It is obvious that for Chicago to improve next couple of seasons they are going to be forced to trade, f/a at least a couple guys and see how a plethora of dmen recently signed or drafted (but not yet pro) actually progress. Colliton and his staff may actually be the greater influence help than anything else (rookie camp: work on this kid and prospect gets a feel for difference next level and where his short coming is).

So all that said, I would be happy camper if Tkachuk fell to us and if we draft the kid wiz has at #27.

It is what Chicago needs to balance out the lineup shortcoming, even if it means not taking the best skill guy. Trading up for #3 upsets everything. But maybe that player becomes a new face of franchise. Hmmm...a foreign born guy in that role...ok, I guess, if said player is really good. After all, how much longer can McDonough promote Toews as a top player?

Oh the intrigue of it all

There is no shame in taking the best player at #8 even a defender...if that is the high guy on the Kelley board.

and no shame of taking the pivot from Flint later....

I am betting they split the tow picks between both D and O

Today was a bust...no nothing...no fans even with rumors.

(I been out there watching / seeking until right now, since my last post at 4 p.m. when I threw up that big trade snippet)
I just have had no luck, and you know I attempt to talk to everybody...

Frack! Jim Benning just said, he thinks the Habs are taking Jesperi and a forward is dropping to him at #7...I gotta change my board.

If Kelly takes a dman we eventually see "HIM" prime time as the Bobby Orr offensive type not just a carry and distribute. But if it isn't Hughes ....well we HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TOEWS PROBABLY SEABROOK are gone anyway before we climb back up from rock bottom. Because Bowman might band aid next season but eventually onslaught of kids must come along. Where else is Bowman going to stock all the prospects, anyway.

Just happened to recall btw M From is signed. What about the forward (not dmam) Dahlstrom. A bottom line treat like Soderland is so talked up. Rockford is going to have a very young team!

Justin I would really appreciate your input anything you heard about Tuulolaperfirmance in playoffs although recognizing it is small data to gauge his future.

That means Hughes is there at 8?

Or Dobson. Seems like Boqvist and Bouchard are locks to be available at 8. That is the worst case scenario, if it unfolds this way, I would consider other options to be honest.

Hughes local kid to Detroit. I am guessing they might have passed on him if some others were still available. In yet one more scenario maybe Detroit, needing more prospects, trade #6 for #8 if we give them a prospect or the #27.

Happy draft day Justin.

What is your feeling that a deal of some sort will happen with the Hawks today?

Whatever Bowman does I’m really hoping they don’t trade the #8 pick. I don’t think this group has another run in them unless Keith Toews Saad and Seabrook all have big bounceback years. I think they need to get as much young talent as possible instead of thinking they can tweak the roster and make another run.

If the Finnish centre man is selected by Montreal do you think Detroit would trade down from 6 to 8 with the Hawks giving them the 8th, Gus, and a 3rd or 4th? At that spot I can see both Tkachuk and Wahlstrom being available. Those are the two I would like. I would love to get Zadina, but I don't think he is available at the 6th spot.

I can see the Wings doing a deal like that. If a player is on the board at #6 that the Hawks are high on Bowman should be on the phone with Detroit

This high a pick, say at #6 or #8, Bowmanneeds to decide how much the player he liked best would impact the team vs the next player he would take. Really like moving up be sure what we give up is long term only going to be a sacrifice if it is the #27. If Bowman trades down, then he clearly is worried aout the team record next season more than taking advantage of this earlyrafy early draft pick. Should this occur, I hope season ticket holders show disgust by not renewing. Where is the real hope?

Awaiting some more info. today. One tidbit dropped on @TheRinkcast last night: was told yesterday the Hawks had made an offer on E. Karlsson but it was "highly unlikely" they would meet OTT's price. Still, Bowman is working on some "splashy" stuff. Buckle up.

so if the caps would take it, would it be worth it to send #27 for Grabauer?

They would take that in a flash. That would be Stan failure.

I heard about the JVR stuff and that Stan was peddaling the Hossa contract hard. They want to move that but aren't having much luck.

Other than that, from what I've heard, it sounds like they really want to make a move today.

More to come in my blog on the next couple of hours. Just waiting on a couple more responses.
