It has never been more apparent how little I actually know about a draft. Not sucking really made me let my guard down. I'll trust you guys on this one.

That's not true at all. Barzal and Brayden Point were my top choices on draft day (and I definitely wasn't alone in either case). That Point was still available in round 3 and the Devils still didn't take him is the reason I haven't gotten over that draft yet.

I don't see any obvious candidate this year yet. It's harder to figure out who will be available in the middle of the first round than early on or at the end of the round. It's like 2016, only instead of hoping Keller or Jost would fall, you already know that caliber of player is going to be off the board and you're left with a bunch of guys who all have obvious flaws and you just have to hope the one you pick is the guy who makes it.

You’re right.

I meant that somebody nobody is looking at will turn into a high end player and then we will all complain we should have taken that guy in a year or two. Those guys usually takes some time to emerge. But I mean more for folks like me who don’t stay on top of the draft prospects compared to you guys who really do.

Like Nico or Patrick I had an opinion on (I wanted Patrick - I was wrong) but after about the top 10 guys I’ve got nothing....

my #1 guy right now is Kravstov - I feel he has the best shot of the players that will be available where we pick. Our system lacks snipers and RWs plus he's got good size and speed

Kupari is growing on me though, was 6'2 at the combine and is one of the fastest skaters in draft plus we lack Finnish
