I would think that the Penguins also have an interest in Connor McDavid, but I don't think that means they're actively pursuing him.

Carrying over from last thread:

A couple things to note here:

Kessel had a career high 92 points that he is likely to not reach again.

Domi had an unlucky 17-18 season shooting percentage wise.

In 16-17 Domi had a 5v5 p60 of 2.03 while Kessel was at 2.01

It isn't some drastic downgrade like some think.

Also you would be getting a player almost 8 years younger than Kessel.

Quotes not working...

@Feds

Some fair points on the big picture. Are we acquiring Domi as a wing or a center? Which is he better at? (I haven't watched enough Arizona hockey to know this)

Also, as has been discussed the past few days with a potential Kessel trade... can Domi carry his own line? What right handed option will we have on the powerplay...Sprong?

What is Domi's hot dogs/60 rate?

I just can't see AZ being that interested in Sheary as the return because Sheary, while productive, will always be seen as more of a passenger.

Winger. He hasn't played much Center. I think a good comparable in terms of age/production would be Drouin.

So all it will take to pry him out is a young, budding superstar defenseman and a GM dumb enough to pull the trigger?

It's pretty low. Domi has a pretty strict diet as he has diabetes.

Haha yes. My dad roots for TBL and he was seriously questioning Yzerman after that deal. I convinced him Sergachev was a stud and now he finally believes me.

if the yotes trade Domi straight up for Sheary, Chayka will be on his way out. Domi is no Duclair

I don't know if Sergachev will ever be a Norris candidate, but the dude is going to be a top-pair guy for a decade. Why you would trade him for a top-6 winger makes no sense.

Remember when half the MTL fan base was calling Drouin a 1C when the trade happened?

Eh, he was good, great in juniors. He has skill, no doubt, but I see him more as a complimentary player.

From looking at that graph chart it looks like Sheary is a WAY better player then Domi... From how we talk about Sheary as a 3rd or 4th liner wouldnt that make Domi AHL caliber player? Looks like Sheay is dominant in all categories besides assists. Which youd think arizona would have to give up extra to get Sheary not the other way around. Im definitely a fan of Domi and think he would kill it as a penguin. Chyka is apparently the biggest analytics GM in the league right now though so maybe that chart will help a trade for the penguins.

As a Pens fan I’d no doubt be into this. Sheary is who he is at this point while Domi has more theoretical upside and potential given he’s a former 1st rounder. Plus he has to be a defensive upgrade considering Sheary is close to a 0 in that department.

I really like Max Domi and I would love for the Pens to get him.

Kessel is awesome but if they could do the following I'd be all for it.

Sign Kovalchuk for 2 years at $5.5m
Trade Kessel, Sheary & Huntwick to AZ for Domi, Crouse & Hjarmallson.

Guentzel-Crosby-Hornquist
Kovy-Malkin-Rust
Domi-Brass-Sprong

2 goals in his last 34 playoff games. That's the Connor Sheary I know. I don't see Zona making a deal for Sheary. I think we're stuck with that contract.

Now Sprong (whom Sully doesn't appear to like), I could see that happening.

No point on AZ making a major deal as they will be the new Seattle team soon enough.

We’re apparantly not signing Connor Hall. Man I hated that pick when it happened and now it’s just a complete bust.

Domi would be a great step forward in changing the culture surrounding the penguins. Need players like him. Sheary, Rust and Murray just strike me as little punks who feel entitled to something because they were drafted by the pens and gifted cups. If I never saw Sheary play a hockey game again it wouldn’t bother me.
