Doughty....he raised his shoulder to ensure contact with the head. he could have maintained his posture and it would have been a clean check to the shoulder/chest.

Kadri hit a player who was off balance and (out of Kadri's control) loosing his footing. The impact with the boards were as much to do with severity.

- wbon22

You’re wrong. He went to body check Carrier who clearly lowers his head last second to reach for the puck. League needs to pick up on that and no suspension should be given.

The elbow was inadvertent. Wingels and Chara crashed at basically the same time into Marner. Marner threw his head back like the pansy snowflake he is.

2 game suspension.

- Videoj

Well, if we're claiming we know the players intentions, then the Kadri hit was also inadvertent.

Give Kadri 2 games and move on. He hurt more than helped last night, anyway.

Yeah I saw the Doughty hit... Carrier had wrecked him all game, and Doughty saw a chance to take a cheap shot, and drilled him right in the head. If they want to protect players and take head shots out of the game, that hit should have been multiple games.
- mixturebill

Carrier doesn’t lower his head right at the last second when he reaches for the puck?

Point is Kadri had seconds...not just a fraction of a second.
- Iggysbff

No, he had less than a half a second between the fall and the hit. If you're saying his point was to headhunt, then that's the time it took.

Sadly, I am forced to conclude that they don’t give two poops.

Idiots will argue that it will turn the NHL into a “figure skating sissy league”, but the OHL banned hits to the head about a decade ago, and it didn’t hurt the game at all.

It’s too bad the NHLPA is such a franking joke: they could institute real change if they weren’t so terminally stupid and shortsighted.

It wasn't even called a penalty in game... everyone played on, Carrier mustered himself to his skates and got the bench and maybe missed one shift, I cant recall.
- Stu17

I know the game was physical but you can’t just start handing out suspensions every time there’s contact with a players head. Players raise and lower their bodies all the time and you can’t take checking out of the game completely. It’s getting stupid

Geezus there is a lot of derp around today.

Kadri's hit was dirty, and suspendable. 1, maybe 2 games because it's the playoffs.

Wingels elbow was as intentional as Kadri's hit, just not as severe. Those of you telling Leafs fans to take off the blue and white glasses need to (frank) off with the anti Toronto bias, those Leafs fans defending the hit need to stop drinking the kool aid ffs.

Both teams played dirty hockey last night, Kadri was a train wreck for most of the game. Marchand was an absolute douchebag.

If the refs would call things consistently we might not see this type of bullpoop in a playoff game.

That has zero impact on how dirty it was, or how many games he should be suspended for. Referees miss stuff all the time.

Carrier was taken off by the concussion spotters, and didn't return for the rest of the game.

By the by. Tsn has an interview with Kovalchuck and he puts the Rangers rumor to bed. He goes on further to state, which I said numerous times, he wants to win a cup, so the team success will be part of his decision.

Yes but he also says the city and his family will play a huge part in the decision. Kids sports etc.

I’m sure he will attempt to find the best mix of all things.

Regardless, I just don’t think the Rangers make sense.

Cant argue with Toronto fans, they know everything, thats why the league office is there. If fact, the HOF is there so they have a chance to see the cup.

You want to talk about derp... Those are some THICK ass blue tinted glasses.
THERE IS NO ELBOW TO THE HEAD OF MARNER. It doesn't matter how many times you say it to try and make it true to justify Kadri's hit... it isn't true.
Marchand licked a guy... Kadri boarded the same guy TWICE. Two out of those three events were dirty plays, and they both came from Kadri. Take Marchand's name out yo mouf.

Take off your yellow tinted glasses and watch the replay.

There is an elbow/shoulder direct to the head of Marner. It's not suspension level, but it is there. Marchand licking someone's face could easily be called unsportsmanlike conduct. Kadri hit a guy shoulder to shoulder once and it shouldn't have been a penalty (though it looked bad) and tried to run a guy once with an unfortunate fall causing it to be much worse than it was should have been.

Oh also, Marleau was cross checked / interfered with at the same time as Wingles elbowing minor. IMO end result of those 10 seconds of play should have been Kadri with a 5min, Wingels with 2min and whoever dumped Marleau with 2min.

I don't know. Presumably everyone is inside too. You don't look cool wearing coloured glasses indoors.

horse hockey. Have a look again. There's elbow followed by the should to Marner's head.
At least be objective on the issue. Perhaps your homer-ism is impeding you from seeing all that occurred prior to the Kadri hit.

sure you can debate/argue with Toronto fans... just don't be a douche about it.

If you have issue with where the league has it's offices or the HHOF is, take it up with the league.

I'm not defending Kadri's hit or Marchand lick/kiss. They both sucked.

Marner got hit in the head, because his head was lowered. Same thing happened to McAvoy earlier in the season: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1yfXjKXTVc

There was no elbow to the head like Toronto fans keep whining about. Wingel's elbow was tucked the entire time. His shoulder/upper arm made contact with Marner's face... there was no elbow or intent involved. Simply a matter of circumstance of Marner's head being lowered...

I don't have a problem with a Toronto player wanting to lay a hit on Boston after that... but LAUNCHING into a prone player's head who is inches from the boards is a total scum bag move, and he should sit for a couple of games.
