Man, he put together Giroux-Couturier-Voracek, then Provorov-Ghost

He found a way to make that defense not leak like a sieve

He won games with Alex Lyon in net

I say this a lot: None of us will ever agree with every decision, but the one job a coach has is to get star production out of your best players, and he just dropped a 98-point season out here while losing his No. 1 goalie for five weeks and having the most unreliable backup goalie in the league

That man might piss you off, but you can't take that away from him

this is where I land with Hakstol and I understand why others feel different.

If this team didn't think Hakstol had the goods, they certainly aren't playing that way.

Devils and jackets sitting some of their regulars, not wanting to play pens, wow, just wow

i'm a huge critic of his, and don't want him as our coach.

still, i give him credit. he's steered this wacky ship into the playoffs. all i want is for them to win a cup...if he did that, i'd be thrilled and happy to eat crow.

I recognize the flaws they have right now, but they are sneaky dangerous

Knocking those goofs out of the playoffs would be wonderful.

I do wonder how that matchup would go. Both teams play with a lot less "chaos" now than in years past but I could see it coming back.

I look for it, too. I think they play hard for him. I really do

few things in this life have given me the pleasure of just watching him get shelled in s a shutout loss on our ice to propel us into the playoffs.

(frank) csp, now and always.

ps...i'm sure he's a lovely person.

- hammarby31

Oh yeah.. rescues puppies from burning buildings, helps old ladies across the street.. a real prince. And as of right now... Off, that is the direction in which I would like him to (frank).

A great season by him, the top defense pair. I was dubious about Elliott, but I own when I am dead wrong

They aren't the best team, but they are a good team. They were definitely good enough to make the playoffs and there is still room for this team to get even better while Giroux and Voracek are legit

- AllInForFlyers

All the naysayers and negative nannies, you're not one of them, had better get ready to eat some crow. This team is coming on, and the young players are coming on, and it's going to happen under this coach. Maybe not this year, but it's coming.

If we have to play the Pens all I know is they'd better not go in with the same game plan they went in with this season. We were swept and the games weren't even very competitive.

Oh, my gosh. It's taken two years longer than I wanted, and they did get lucky in the lottery last year, but you can absolutely see it

they can be. especially if elliott can play the way he's capable of playing. i saw nice improvement in his game from the previous one. granted the rangers missed the net several times from point blank, but he looked relaxed, sharp, and did what he needed to do. that's a good sign.

He's a good coach, man. He's not Scotty Bowman, but I'd take him, flaws and all, over 20 or so of the other coaches in the league
- AllInForFlyers

Sing it! The real issue is many of the perceived flaws attributed to him on here, are complete nonsense. No coach is perfect and neither is he, but he has done a strong job this season and deserves some consideration, some, not a favorite for coach of the year.

Half their games went to OT. I wouldn't classify that as not very competitive.

A lot will depend on how quickly Elliot shakes off the rust completely. If he plays like he did from Dec-February, they absolutely have a shot against whoever they play.

Lol. Son, the last response I'll make to you for my time on HB.

You're an bumhole, no two ways about it. I look forward to the day I can piss on your grave, as with the small amount of info you have given out one can tell you are someone a little older. You seek out to make the experience of others on this site worse r/t the poop ass life you must live. Enjoy your remaining years, as I'll have more of them. Good riddance.

/nutter out

How often have you given up on this team and it's captain the last couple years? Yet you cry wolf on a poster who has consistently defended it? Take your Martyr act elsewhere.
