Bowman has proven once again that without any doubt the Blackhawks absolutely don't need the highest scoring line in the league anymore. After all they scored a goal tonight. Right Stan?
- Savoy

What a statement made by this Blackhawk team after the BIG announcement by Mr. McDonaugh.
They really put a great effort out there tonight with 20 shots on goal and more defensive lapses that one can count.
Pathetic effort !!

Since hawks are picking also in the first round late probably 27-31 who is the sleeper player on defense side and forward side that might just fall when hawks are picking late in the 1st round?
- Scott1977

Not sure I will be able to articulate this so that it makes sense to everybody, but you have to expect that virtually every prospect rated to be picked after the Hawks first pick (regardless of where it ends up) will end up slotting down one position lower because the hawks will probably pick someone totally unexpected and unslitted where they pick. Maybe this is a secret strategy to help have someone they want with the second first-round pick to be available later than we get we’re slotted.

I think you and Edzo secretly want Stan on account of how much you both talk about him.

I know nothing is official, but all indications point to this being the Sharp Shooter's last game at the UC, and his last game in a Blackhawk's uni/NHL uni. Ride out into the sunset, Patrick Sharp! What's your fav moment from #10 wearing the Indian Sweater???

P.S. was at the game tonight and Edjsell looks about as fast as AA.

They either have the dumbest players in the world or a coach who doesn't give a poop. Their fundamentals are horsepoop. GM or coach? I don't give a poop. I feel like an idiot having renewed my tickets. Win or lose, I want to see an intelligent effort. Very few games this year have i seen anything resembling an intelligent team effort. Someone's nuts need to be roasted.
- 6628

You got a lot of guts to renew your tkts. One thing you will probably have is a little bit more elbow room because there will be plenty of empty seats unless Stan becomes "the Man" finally and "Q" cleans house and replaces his assistants with coaches that are creative and have a a knack in finding ways to improve the performances of our young players.

great sniper and one timer..hard to pick out one moment....never bought any that slanderous BS from the bildge water pumping sports talking heads about him being a "problem" in the locker room...

I believe 2, 19 and 88 must end up in the rafters. Also think 7 and 81 belong up there too. As much as I like 50, I don’t think he belongs up there. I would say no to 10.

I feel the only solution to shake out and send a message to this organization us for fans to stop automatically renewing seasons tickets. If the team keeps not giving a damn last several years except for Crawford and Darling and occasional game here and there, they will keep drifting with this GM and coach.
The equivalence with Detroit aging core ends with coach. When Zetterberg got old and Datsuk old and injured, you can still see Detroit kept giving it 100% in regular season , even almost kicking Blackhawks out in 2013 under our alleged best-ever HOF coach. Detroit core got really old and the team was losing but not for lack of effort. I would not have a problem with that, but I have an issue how this team is playing last several years. I know we may not be able to get Sullivan clone, this would be extreme luck but maybe Tortorella clone as coach is what this team needs but not going to get. Season tickets holders must send a message unless they are happy with this level of effort by the team in most of the games.

Absolutely NOT...... the rafters are for superstars. Sharp was a great team player and one of the leaders of the dynasty years but that's about it. Otherwise, you'd have to raise about 5 other guys jerseys up there as well.

Players LOVE this coach for a good reason........ he doesn't make them work hard and makes rest a major part of his mantra. I absolutely feel that his teams have not competed the last 3 years because of aging......... and they're not in as good of hockey shape as other teams. They continually play one period of "hustle" hockey a game, usually get out shot, out shot blocked, out special teamed, and always get out hit. To me that produces HO HUM hockey and the reason for these last 3 years.
Obviously when the CORE was younger they were able to re-energize faster. Not any more.

Without Crawford/Darling, this team probably misses the playoffs entirely last year as well. Too many CORE on the decline way too soon WHY ????

Torts has a job,Mike Keenan and Darryl Sutter are out there for the taking, you know automatically they would get rid of the pussies like Osterle and a couple others Right off the hop, they definitely will be tougher to play against.like I said before I have been a critic of Stan Bowman also, but I am willing to give both of these guys one year to straighten it out. I just felt personally, that for right now be careful what you wish for.Let’s see if they can fix it for a summer.

Joel Quenneville is largely regarded as the Blackhawks best coach, ever. He will be in the Hall of Fame.

Please enlighten us with who was a better coach: Trent Yawney?

Q has been a successful coach for many years. After all this time it would be very misleading to think he doesn't care or has forgotten how to coach. Lots of guys around here want him gone for those doughtful reasons yet everybody agrees that he would be snapped up in a second by another team and God forbid it's St Louis. Q has a system that has served him well and you can bet on the fact that he will stick with it. Coaches coach and players play. 60% of the problem Q has is because of bad goaltending made worse because of an incompatible defensive plan. Q will be ok. What this team really needs is better players immediately and a new competent GM that would at least give the team a decent chance to succeed.

I’m ok with both guys getting a year to straighten things out. I think they’ve both earned it.

Powers in the Athletic the other day wrote “Three Cups buys you time. Sorry it just does.”

Quote may not be exact but that’s the gist of it and I don’t disagree.

I don’t think many would dispute that Q has been a great coach and probably the Hawks best in terms of delivering the goods. At some point though they all have their shelf life and it’s not so much finding a better coach than Q, but finding one better suited for this team at this point in time.

That said, Bowman needs to fix a few things particularly the defense and hopefully a bottom 6 defensive center.

If he can’t and the team lays an egg in the first half of the next season you can either can them both then or at least start looking for their replacements.

You and others can blame Bowman for everything under the sun and claw back any credit he deserves for his role in 2 Cups that weren’t guaranteed after the one in 2010; but when the puck drops and the Hawk players sit stationary and watch the other team skate them out of the building for a period that’s hardly on the GM.

I’m not sure what system you would call that but playing rope a dope hasn’t really done this team any favors this year.

Agreed, 100%. Stan and Q are still very capable in their respective role and they have the capacity to right this ship. One more opportunity to continue this amazing run is completely fair. Neither has been perfect, but the path in front of them is clear but far from easy. I think Stan will have a bigger challenge and it will make for a very interesting summer.

True, but all you have to do is look a bit West to Vegas or a bit East in PGH and see a whole team performing beyond expectations and a D corp that even with B2B Cups no one's calling them among the best in the league.

Seems to me coaching has something to do with both of those. No one's saying Q should be able to turn them into world beaters but it doesn't always seem like he was icing his best lineup this season whether it was on the defensive side or even the fwds up front...and I'm not referring to these last dozen games or so either.

In your world I'm sure Bowman's at fault for speeding up Father Time on 2, 7 and 19 as well.
