aves will be in playoff mode...they need points; lets see if the hawks can put together the same kind of effort...
they have not had 2 regulations win in a row since mid december...
aves have ducks, kings, sharks on the road and close with blues @ home...
my guess they miss the playoffs a pt or 2... |

can you imagine if he got lit up for 5 goals in the 14 minutes he played... - bogiedoc
If the hocks played like that in front of Forsberg he'd have 10 shut outs.

Anaheim and St Louis bottom two seeds. Dallas fell off the side of the cliff. |

Talk about a superb performance. Hillman will be in a state of Colorado rocky mountain high if he isn"t careful lining up his checks. Of course both Q and Samuelson (one of them at least) will have a discussion about a few things defensively.
A player like Hillman who is reknown for his physical checking needs to keep it simple in this atmosphere. |

I remember we were out of aspirin once.
So I took some Midol for a headache. Worked well - headache was gone in minutes.
Problem was - every 28 days my headache came back.... |

That must be doubly nerve racking for Hillman to not only have his NHL debut tonight but also play in Denver where he played the past 3 years and likely will have a strong showing of supporters of college buddies, DU fans, etc. (not to mention family flying in).
I also wonder if Tyler was in the stands with the rest of the Sikura family to see Dylan's debut last night. If the Hogs had a game the same night, imagine that Colliton healthy scratches him so he could join the family at the UC.
Was also nice to see Keith Seabrook on the ice with Brent's wife, kids, and parents. |

You might have to explain that reference to the younger contributors... |

No - but I wish I could have seen those guys in the Catskills back in the day.
Actually, that’s an old Bill Cosby line. |

Hey look the Hawks played team defense, sacrificed their bodies, cleared the puck out of their crease, made sure they exited their zone safely, occasionally took the body, did not get cute with the puck in their own zone, treated puck retrieval like there was some urgency for a total of 8 minutes in the 2017/18 season.
I wonder if that could be a model for 2018/19. |

My father tried out at the Concord one summer
and until a few years ago I still had family living
up there.

Hawks would love Bouchard if he falls to their range. I've heard they view Hughes/Boqvist as consolation prizes.
May be looking at goalies with the Nashville pick.

Sounds like more of a Rodney dangerfield line to me. I tell ya, he just didn’t get enough respect. |

I want them to win but for the draft the Hawk need a loss tonight. A win could see them leap two teams and move to 10th from the bottom. |

I know this is the Hawks thread, but just wanted to comment how crazy of a finish McDavid is having to the season. Jan 31st he was sitting with 15 goals (tied 63rd in the NHL) and I remember telling a buddy around that point, how I was surprised he didn't have more goals. Fast forward 2 months and he is sitting 4th with 41 goals (4 behind the NHL lead).
26 goals and 49 points in that span. Patrik Laine and Eric Staal each scored 20 goals in that span too.

I thought Murphy had his best game as a Hawk last night. I'm not sure if the Hawks are playing better, or if teams are not showing up to play hard bc of their spot in the standings. Probably both but the Hawks are all over the Avs. Also, I have really disliked the play of Hinostroza the last 2+ weeks. |
