I will take him to the airport and drop his bags off if he plays overseas

I can't think of a more inconsistent starter for a 2 or 3 year stretch for the sabres, ever

maybe grant fuhr

- homiedclown

Grant fuhr was meh by the time he got here.
Take a video for me if you get the pleasure of being his chauffeur.

I had no problem with him. He was an inch shorter than lehner, 80lbs lighter, and had good fundamentals. I didnt want to see him go actually. Lehner just sucks, (frank) everything else, all the bullpoop. Lehner just sucks. Accept it, its ok.

Goalies are so overrated and it's sickening that so many people can't see that.

Guessing from your lack of argument, you probably just look at stats and make that assumption.
I dont think theyre as important now as they were in the past. I still would like the sabres to have a good one though. Lehner suuuuuuuuuucks you just dont know how to see it i guess.

Imo,
Lehner is so big that he has trouble staying balanced and in control

Do u think that’s something he can figure out?
Or would he have done that by now if he was capable?

Obviously he’s big
so when he’s in position, the puck hits him
Hence his decent numbers

It’s when he needs to display athleticism or agility that i see him get in trouble

Step 1- win the draft lotto
Step 2- trade GMTM all his mistakes
Step 3- we are contenders

Nope, at this point i think he is what he is.
Every goalie in the nhl, lehner included, should be/is in position for a point blank shot.
As soon as he has to anticipate or move laterally its as good as over with him.

Well, not completely...
let’s just say it would take many more steps to get where we need to go

I think our defense will continue to improve

But without Dahlin...
we’d still need a #1

2 years right?
So ‘19-20 season, or ‘20-21?

I’d be shocked

I don’t like him...
but he’s not nearly that bad either

There’s some pretty mediocre goalies that have been kicking around the league

- jdfitz77

It would be by the start of the 20-21 season. Wouldnt surprise me.
Those mediocre ones get by on fundamentals and sense. Lehner has neither imo.

Fair enough.
We still need to score a lot more goals.
A defense by committee would work at that point imo.

Thanks! I must confess it is Gerbe inspired. Well, mostly bored-at-work-inspired. But Gerbe deserves some credit.

The Pens & Vegas have certainly proved it’s possible

Tough to accomplish thoughneed a perfect storm of players in an exact role they can perform well at

I broke down how Vegas is doing it a few days ago on here

To put it into context we have given up 12 more goals than pittsburgh this year. They are 5th in the league in points. We are tied for last in goals scored. Goaltending and less en ga should close the gap on ga for us next year. Goal scoring is just as important as defense for us right now imo.

Sure,
But in hockey it goes hand on hand

When we can’t score a lot,
we have to hang tight & limit chances so we don’t get blown out

When we have more talent & spend more time “attacking”
then we are also likely to give up more goals

Gotta find the right balance

Tough to do with the holes we currently have
But i do see talent coming

And at some point,
I do see us taking a significant “leap” up the standings

Kinda like when we brought in all that talent after the lockout
The 3rd line of Vanek-Roy-Pominville was a matchup nightmare for teams

We have the potential makings of that with Mittelstadt at 3C
That alone could be a huge help
