Odd thing though , Oesterle & Kero listed as "scratched" but, Kempney listed as "illness". I noticed this last game also.

Correct Darcy.
You know - he's SICK of Q always scratching him from the lineup.

Did 19 find his legs and hands?? Heck of a last shift from The Captain. Great win and a huge test tomorrow. Gotta Love the condensed schedule as a fan!!
- EnzoD

Without getzlaf or kesler in the lineup I'd have expected him to be more noticeable than Sharp.

hawks need to play well and beat this damn pred team in regulation...

in the last 6 games (playoffs incl) hawks have scored 5 goals in regulation..

preds know how to play the hawks and do it rather well

- bogiedoc

That has really only been the case since the playoffs last season. We smoked them in the regular season last year and all years before, including playoffs. That team just really came together last postseason.

So then it was Bieksa who bit some player. Oh how I detest flagrant actions, cheap shots especially coming from a player reknown for just that. A team needs such a player; we have Hartman. When we had Shaw, he would get up against bigger, larger players and had a lot of guts. I applaud when DeBrincat engages in physical confrontations; he is player worth cheering for.

That was Burrows.

Decent game last night for the Hawks but, glass half-empty thoughts, Anisimov - 25% at the dot; Toews - 0 points; D-cat - 0 hits, 0 takeaways; Crawford - .893 SV%. Not convinced yet.

Really? Your worried that D-Cat had zero hits??? Do you know he is 5'7" on a good day? Here is the list of players that had zero hits last night: 2,7,8,11,14,19,20,44,88.

Something can be said for getting all your players some playing time and not keeping their spot on the pine always warm. That something is this: Osterle and Kempny will be rusty and lacking confidance from not playing even a tad every few games.

There are different coaching styles and there is polarizing effect on players whom sit too much becase the coach cannot see their playing is more important, long term, than gaining each point possible.

I like how in baseball the Cubs manager, Joe Madden, gets everyone in games - no one has a permanent dugout seat beyond a few games. It sure seems that way

- jhawk59

I see your point but not really my point...

That said, you will now see what Q thinks of the two players you mentioned. I'm somewhat surprised Kempney hasn't played more. But some of what Q does or HAS TO DO is cap/contract related. Up until this 5 in 7 day stint there wasn't a real reason to keep 8 dman other than contract issues.

Right now the Hawks need to win and get as many points as possible. The Hawks have settled down significantly since Quennville has went with more consistent lines and pairings. It's easy for us all to say we wish all of the players on the Hawks were getting more minutes, but would you say that if they weren't winning?

Quennville can only dress 20 players each night. Maddon has 25 on his roster, and can use players in very very specific roles- which makes it seem like he is using all of his players all of the time. You also need to consider the Cubs play 162 games in a season so Maddon has the luxury of sitting players, or giving them a night (or more) off so they can rest. The Hawks cannot afford to fall to far in the standings with how competitive the Western Conference is right now.

Seabrook hasn't been great, but he also looks like he is playing through some form of injury. I want to believe he will get right, or better, by season's end. Hawks still need to make a move (or two) if they want to be a legit contender.

Kempny isn't as good as 5 of the 6 guys playing ahead of him - that's why he's not playing. I rooted for the guy last year cause he should have played over like Rozsival and such, but I'm kind of glad I don't have to watch him be weirdly bad in the NZ rn.

Kempny is kind of puzzling to watch. He can be good positionally in his own zone and carry the puck well, but he just gets weirdly lost in the neutral zone for no reason.

Yes, Kepmny is baffling. All the assets and some good qualities, but his NZ play was resulting in a decent number of goals against last year. He was one of the few players who had good shot metric numbers but negative goals shares.

At the end of the day the best 6 defensemen are playing for the Hawks consistently. Q gave them all a chance to show what they can do, unfortunately for Kempny and Oesterle they didn't show enough. Maybe Stan can pull another rabbit out of his hat and trade Kempny in a Forsling/Clendening type of deal.

Hockeybuzz 101. Actually, basic HTML 101.
Your web browser (Firefox/Chrome/Safari/ *gasp* Internet Explorer) processes and marks up words / sentences based on their "tags".
This site, tags are indicated by a "begin" tag
< X >
(spaces removed so you see the tag, not the effect)
and an "end" tag
< / X >
Where "X" is the identifier to the effect you're using and "<" and ">" OR "[" and "]" encase the identifier. I've used "" for exmaples but the hockeybuzz post editor uses "[/]" by default. Both work, just use the "Preview" button to make sure your browser is interpreting your tags correctly.

Thankfully, HB message reply has these built in, but sometimes fingers slip or we edit a post and it comes out with different meaning than we originally intended. Other times, you click a button where your cursor is, and HB adds the beginning or ending tag in the wrong place. Thats a problem with HB and Eklunds problem, don't worry

Here's my quick cheat-sheet for adding stuff in Hockey Buzz if you ever want to know how/why your tags aren't working and maybe trouble-shoot them yourself

Bold words =
< b > Bold < / b >

Italics =
< i > Italics < / i >

Underline
< u > Underline < / u >

Red*
< font color="red" > Red* < / font >
*Red font is generally used to denote sarcasm.
*Sometimes the internetz don't understand sarcasm. Proceed with caution.

Adding an image:

< img > www.yourwebsite.com/yourImageURLhere < / img >

Note: thru writing this post, the post editor kept adding the tags in the wrong places when I clicked the GUI buttons. Don't be afraid to move tags around so they're sandwiching the text you mean to emphasize!

Also, feel free to use the edit button that appears on the top right hand side of your own posts, in the middle of 5 buttons when you're logged in
"Flag" "Move" "Delete" "Edit" "Quote"

One of the tricks I've found for this sites (laughably bad) message-reply interface is to type the text of my post
and then highlight text and click the appropriate button to Bold, Underline or
Quote
.
I've found the site to be "less" buggy this way in where it places the HTML tags
