He's right. He's being completely disingenuous, but he's right
Despite all the hype, he wasn't even nominated for the Calder. And if he'd been a rookie last year, he (again) wouldn't even have been nominated
Good player, and I don't doubt he'll bust out, but for now he's proven nothing

He has proven he is a great player and will be even better this year.
He has also shown he is douchebag who needs to grow up and his statements are absolutely disingenuous.

Eichel mediocre?! Garth, you do know how to read or take a statement into the correct context, right? Well, apparently not...
Let me start by saying, I'm a huge Eichel supporter, but I'm also not out of my mind either. In terms of him being mediocre: He came into the league with extremely high expectations; therefore, he's absolutely correct in his statement. He had been mediocre thus far, plain and simple. Now, this is where you have to take what he said into context, because if he was 27, and 28, and put up those same offensive numbers respectively, then for him and his talent, he would be correct. Now if someone like Deslauries put up those same type of numbers, it would be far from mediocre. Get it?
What has he done? Absolutely nothing. He's shown he's capable of living up to the hype, and is capable of being the Sabres franchise player. He's shown flashes, now is the year where he has to go out and prove it. No more excuses. Anything less than a point per game season will be a major disappoinment.
Certainly he has the tools. He's shown he can dominate games, and make others around him look very average.
All the excuses (bad coach, his age, no stability at LW, injuries, terrible defenseman) are all no longer valid. Now is the time. |

I actually agree with this post....and I think Jack knows he can do more if he can stay healthy for 82 games, and if he leads his team to the playoffs, then maybe he can get an extra million-1.5 per year on his 8 year extension. |

Dude, Eichel has done way more than nothing. He has proven he is and will be a star in this league.

Whoa whoa whoa we can't have a Toronto guy saying the Buffalo guy is any good, just like we can't have a Buffalo guy saying the Toronto guy is any good. Are you new here?
But in all sincerity I'm looking forward to watching Eichel and Matthews battle in the playoffs every year |

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that this statement is sincere. And, if it is, my respect for him has grown tremendously. I want to see if he can actually lead this team back to the playoffs. |

If he's looking for a solid LW Buffalo should make an offer for Zach Hyman. If you ask most leafs fans, they'll tell you he's responsible for Matthews' success. |

Reinhart 6-70pts next year?
I'd close the range to 50-55 personally.
pretty glad the sabres took this kid over draisaitl.
a top 6 of Eichel,Draisaitl,ROR,Okposo, Kane and Pominville?
no thanks |

That's much more probably. Leon was a miss. Too early to tell with Mittelstadt or Nylander, but looks like they'll be decent additions after Kane/Pommer are gone. |
