Actually what he wrote was “don’t you’d think....”. Nuff said.

He got booed because as Eric Staal wrote “you don’t see that in our sport”. Not the exact quote

de Haan is funny. He's not as funny as his offensive skills though.

DeHaan is the epitome of let down. He was supposed to be this PP QB and at best he was an average dman in ALL facets. He didn’t excel at anything.

Poor bastard sure got ripped for that joke. Not sure why though, he made plenty of jokes like that as an Isle.

Let down might be a wee bit harsh. While he didn't excel at anything, he was competent in all facets of the game.

I bet he would've been Trotz's favorite defenseman. He's excellent defensively and would have been a massive piece in this system.

I’m always harsh, but, he was touted as the next coming of Brian leetch. The PP QB the isles have longed for......he was none of the above and average at everything, from skating, hitting and shooting. He excelled at nothing. Not what you’d expect from a 12th overall pick...

He makes Justin Faulk look like a competent defenseman most nights, which is not an easy feat.

Dude's been real solid. Takes a beating every night but he just flat out gets the job done.

I don't honestly know. It's not the end of the world that he's gone but he was built to play for Barry. The left side could have been Leddy/de Haan/Toews instead of having Pelech in the mix.

Dunno. Allegedly he turned down at least one bigger offer from somewhere else. Speculation was that it was Toronto.

I hear you, i just felt like DeHaan was sold as something he wasn’t. He was sold as a puck moving, PP QB with great foot speed. Instead he was basically Pelech. Ha. I expect a little more from a 12th overall is all I’m saying.

He's an odd duck. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but it kinda seems like he prefers to just collect a paycheck and not have the spotlight on him. No offense to Carolina, but you'd think a bigger paycheck in a large market and a shot at a Cup would have been more enticing.

That’s interesting. No disrespect to the hurricanes but why would he take less money to go to a middle of the road team? Doesn’t seem right to me..?

That’s not booing. Wait till he hears the boos and heckling that happens when they put up his undeserved tribute at the coliseum.

Pelech may someday be as good as DeHaan, but he's not there yet. Although he's been a bit better lately, Pelech makes too many poor puck decisions to be compared to DeHaan.

I read posts like this and remember the beating I got on here because I said it was stupid when Snow signed him to that one year deal. Pretty much unanimously(don’t remember if it was you)people said he wasn’t worth crap.

Let us also not forget that DeHaan has been in the league 3 times longer than Pelech, so there’s that. Overall i don’t love Pelech, but he’s played above expectations for a third round pick.

I think he recognized that in TO he'd be leaned on a lot more than in Raleigh. He's a great guy but yeah a little bit weird.

Think he figured that going to CAR he'd get to be playing with/behind Pesce, Faulk or Hamilton in the lineup, so he wouldn't have to eat 24 minutes per night like Hainsey is and get poop on endlessly if he made a mistake.

Plus he's getting $4.6 mill in Carolina. Doubt Toronto was gonna be offering all THAT much more.
