Leddy, Ho Sang and Calgary’s 2nd for Anisimov and Gustafsson.

Hawks get back an old friend, get to ditch a contract they don’t like, and score a pick and some youth.

Islanders get a 2C and a LH D with some promising upside.

- Wildschwein

I have no interest in Anisimov as our 2C. If I am moving Leddy, Ho Sang and a pick it better be for a top notch 2C. Gustafsson I would not mind getting but it's just not a need right now... 2C is a big need.

If he ever gets back up.. or u are watching a B-port game look at him when they show the bench. It's friggin weird... looks like he is on cloud Nine.
- niteislander

dont watch B-port games unless they play here in Binghamton but anytime hes on the bench he looks lost

Duchene has to be the target but not unless its a sign and trade otherwise the smarter move is to wait for the offseason because hes worth the deal

Ok well we will see it just came up again but maybe its because of his history of doing these types of things. Even if it was based soley on his play he stopped doing the simple things that worked and reverted to his selfish crap. Kid seems to think he's the smartest guy in the room and it isnt so
- Upstate_isles

This is the impression I get as well. Between his lateness(s) and constantly reverting to the way he thinks he should play the game, and just his interviews and how he portrays himself he may very well be one of those players that just isn’t coachable. Of course I’m basing this on the same thing everyone else is which is nothing definitive but when the problem is always everyone else, every time, the real problem is usually yourself and that’s my feelings on Ho Sang.

I’m not saying don’t play the kid because I think he brings an element to the team we desperately need or even trade him (if and only if we’re bringing in more talent up front) but I am saying I’m not bullish on him long term. I never have been for the above mentioned reasons.

Hmmm...

Perhaps Henrique could be pried out of Anaheim? D isn’t really what the Ducks need though, so I’m not sure if they’d be interested in Leddy. They’d want young scoring talent on ELC’s.

Will Duchene be worth 8+ mill though?

His stats look great this year, but I must admit that I haven’t watched him much.

Yeah he’s worth 8+ he’ll most likely get 9+ maybe more if he makes it to free agency. He’s playing himself into a good contract playing in a bad situation in Ottawa. Sens will most likely want the world for him considering what they gave up and he’ll carry a heavy price tag in FA if he makes it there. He had some locker room issues in Colorado supposedly connected to him being a born again Christian and being pushy with it. It was rumored to be the reason he was traded.

Since we’re talking Ottawa, let me ask you all this.

Would it be better to throw money at Duchene and play him as your 2C, or throw the same money at Stone and let his world class play elevate a 2C already in the system?

Stone is younger and by far the better two way player (leads league in take aways I believe), while putting up identical or slightly superior offensive numbers to Duchene.

Duchene plays a position of need and might arguably be a little cheaper than Stone.

What say you?

Duchene would be the perfect road roommate for Ho Sang. He could try to convert Ho Sang all day while Ho Sang stares off into space.

I don't get this vibe at all.... I think he is just a space cadet. It's not that he thinks his way is better he is just a dope that keep forgetting. I picture these guys all talking to him and him yessing them to death and then doing the exact opposite they just said. Even when they put a Microphone in his face. It isn't that he is malicious .. he is just a dope.

Trots- I need him to shoot more.. only 1 goal in AHL....etc.
Ho Sang- Yeah man I love to be the guy making that pass though....

It's not him being a jerk. It's just him being a dope. You can almost see guys rolling their eyes behind him. He is a very nice kid. I have bumped into a few times with my son's team. He is awesome to all the kids, signs everything, always smiling and happy.

He is like that kid on your team that can't figure out how to do a drill you've done 25 times.

I agree. If Duchene was the last piece to the puzzle you give up a lot. This is not the case though.

looking at guys who have not signed as of yet an extension my insane wish list would be...

1. Offer sheet Mathews.. Either we get a monster or we crush the Leafs cap situation..win/win.
2. Joe Pavelski- I assume he is going no where but he would be a HUGE pick up for this team.
3. Stone- not a center but don't care
4. Duchene
5. I guess u could go the old guy route with a spezza, Eric Staal, etc.

I kinda feel like Lou will do something we would never expect. We will ship 4 prospects for Barkov or something and I will cry with joy.

Matthews still has to sign the offer sheet for those things to happen. Something tells me he's probably not dying to play for the Islanders.

I dont agree. Feel he thinks he knows better than everyone else which is why he’s had issues at every level he has played at. Just my opinion of course but it can’t always be everyone else’s fault. World doesn’t work like that.
