MDC has the edge in battle level and not turning over the puck. JHS has the speed and overall skill edge. Barry loves the simple and safe game.

the numbers dont lie. Isles hare .750 winning team with Ho Sang and bearly over .500 without.

Ho Sang - Gifted puck handler, great set up guy
DalColle - Goal scorer that has no NHL goals. I think he might only have 1 point.

MDC doesnt turn over the puck b/c he never has it. Ho Sang is a possession player and very tough assignment for opposing teams. Turnover or not our Record with him playing and without speaks for itself.
Well we need to make sure we make it to 30 years before we win 7 straight or more. 29 is such a odd number. Whats another year.

JHS also played with better players than MDC. Fili and Leo are not big offensive players.

I have no issue with keeping JHS on the team. I would also love to see MDC with better players. He will most likely not bump Lee and Beau from their spots.

It's inarguable that the team has been better with him in the lineup though. I think at this point he's better off learning at the NHL level than he is playing in the AHL. I sort-of understand it, but I think it's a bad move. Dal Colle has looked better but I don't think he's looked half as good as Ho Sang, even with his flaws.

edit: Right on cue...

Updated (since start of 2016-17 season)...

#Isles with Josh Ho-Sang in the lineup: 32-16-4
#Isles without Josh Ho-Sang in the lineup: 66-63-22

Yes, As we said often on these boards his speed in the line up with the rest of our guys is a match-up nightmare. That said I am hoping this is just a short stint for him as we more than likely will be moving one of our 3 UFA's if they don't sign.

I could see them saying to him.. Hey we have you as a top 6 guy. don't want u on the 3rd line. Let MDC play with Fill and Leo. When we make a move or a guy gets hurt u are back up. ...

No doubt Barry has the resume. It's surprising because of the record with JHS though. Maybe a trade happens soon to open up a spot? Just think it was better to try to finish the season with JHS and sit him when really needed.

If he spends more than a month down there I will agree with u.. but I have a feeling Lou is not doing all this scouting we are hearing about for nothing.

That was same argument a lot had with Hickey. We seem to be doing ok without him.

I fell like I was the guy who was dying to see Ho Sang on the team a few months ago and most were against it. I find it funny that I am the one defending the demotion.

Bottom line is I am a huge Ho Sang fan... .but the last few games were not as good as his first few games. He was going the wrong way... He certainly will be back on the team, but a quick stint in AHL is not a bad thing. As long as it's not like last time where he was sent down forever.

JHS will go down as a guy with tons of talent who can never put it together at the NHL level. He needs to get much stronger. Way too easy to push off the puck. Never shoots the puck and stick handles way too much. The black/ jewish/Nigerian Rob Schremp

Barry will be very happy if Fili Leo and MDC keep the puck out of the net and play a smart game. I doubt he is expecting big numbers from MDC playing on that line.

As much as I understand why they sent down JHS I don't get keeping MDC over him, that's the only problem I have with that. Unless other teams want to see a little more of him before they trade perhaps?

Could be a showcase for MDC. I'm sure he is more coachable than JHS and plays a safer game.

The whole look our record with JHS without him is really misleading. Let's be honest if he was up all last year they would still have the same record as they did. Also for every time he creates a scoring chance he'll turn it over the next 3 times. It's not like he is creating a ton of chances every time he is out there. I'm not happy he got sent down but I'm not gonna freak out either, he is a tease you expect so much more from him but never seem to get it

Totally agre Mick, and as you stated before 2 points in 10 games is not lighting it up.
Extremely gifted but small and as you said gets knocked off the puck easily. Plays the perimeter mostly and yes holds on to the puck way too long. iIthink if Trotz thought the Islanders couldn’t win without him in the lineup he wouldn’t have been sent down

I agree with teaching young players lessons more often than vets. If Lee has a bad game, you can chalk it up to just a bad game and you know you'll get 100% from him next time based on his record. A young player needs to see consequences for his actions. But, jeez, maybe scratch Ho-Sang for a game or two instead of sending him down? He obviously has value to the lineup...Trotz was raving about him like two games ago! I know a roster move had to be made, but there are other more obvious options for that.
