If I recall correctly, you were pretty high on Koivula when he was drafted. At the time I wasn’t sure your optimism was warranted.

His skating looked good and maybe we do have a center?

Isn’t Koivula a winger? Is he playing C in Bridgeport?

They moved him to center I believe this season.

Ah. Well that is somewhat optimal. Second coming of Cizikas perhaps?

He seems to be thriving in his current role who knows if that’ll translate to the nhl? Hopefully a good third line center/winger I would be ecstatic with that.

All things are coming up isles so far. I would jizz my pants if the isles caught the leafs in points, could you imagine that they get tavares and have all that talent and the isles have more points

Ironically that's also the ratio of my weight to mdw's GF's

I didn't know about him prior to the draft, but he won the Liiga rookie of the year in his first post-draft season...so it was nothing to not be sorta excited about from a 4th rounder.

The fact that he's succeeding playing center is huge too since the organizational depth there is shit, at the moment.

Brilliant statistical analysis of the Islanders....

- JohnScammo

This guy is full of poop and scrambling to be relevant. He never had the Isles anywhere near the "teens" Last ranking he had them below the flyers, Rangers, and Devils at 27... don't even give him the clicks. His exact quote was... "look he has fallen out of the playoffs... it's because their team is Really really bad just like I said." .. frank him

In the Blue and Orange scrimmage right after he was drafted the 2 most noticeable players on the ice were him and Ho Sang. That was 2 years ago.. and he was only 18 at the time but he was Huge and flying around the ice. A few of us who went to the scrimmage were cautiously optimistic.

I was at that game, but my kid was getting restless by the third period so we left before that goal. Koivula had a solid game while I was there, though. He and Vande Sompel were probably the best two for Bridgeport (even if it was BPort without Ho-Sang, Dal Colle, Toews, and even Aho for some reason).

Seeing him in person, where you can see what's going on away from the puck, it's hard to believe Koivula's only played center for a handful of games. He doesn't look out of place there at all. He had two AHL vets on his wings, which probably helps, but he was always where he needed to be on offense and D and was pretty much the one who got things going for that line all night. I do get the knocks on his skating now after watching him get up and down the ice each shift. He definitely needs to get faster and more explosive, but he's solid on his skates in the corners and along the boards.

I still can't believe we won that game on Saturday. They were really terrible for most of that game.

All the Bailey haters were probably seething watching him revert back to all of his bad habits in 1 game. Lethargic for most of the game, dopey no look passes that end up being give aways in both zones. .... when he stinks he drives you nuts.

on the upside after shtting all over MDC he actually played his best game yet IMO. He seemed to be flying around the ice. I would bet that he was spoken to after last game.

Ho Sang played a little better but seems to have issues stick handling and loses the puck all the time. it's odd.. .

Everyone player hate list get shorter and shorter on this board.
Mayfield and komarov have graduated off.

Both have been great for what they are there to do

Let’s keep it rolling fellas.
Eberle is getting traded before deadline. Josh Ho Sang isn’t getting sent down. I wonder what isles record is last two seasons when Ho sang was in line up. He may still need work but he brings an element we need. Another guy that can dangle.

Koivula was someone I thought really stood out at the orange and blue scrimmage. Nice to see he could be another diamond in the rough for us. He has all the tools.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJSSEOOZ6PE first goal Toews got lost out there and Mayfield had no stick. Not sure why he was that high standing next to his 3 forwards. he had a great outlet pass to Lee but that is a big oops that I am sure will be addressed.

you can see one of Bailey's many oops resulting in a 2-on-1 at begining of second period.

one last thing.. wtf was Clutterbuck doing with 9 seconds left. he was at the other blue line while they were entering the zone 6-on-4.
