It was absolutely high, and I'll leave the final word to our upstate ref friend, but I thought the fact that it hit Forsling's stick and then went in would've negated that
- eichiefs9

Any puck hit by an attacking team high stick that defects in is no goal because a deflection isnt possesion and control

What if Clutter high sticked into the ref's ass and then it went in?
- JimmyP

No goal can ever be scored from anywhere on the ice if it goes in directly off an official. ( even his ass)

You're probably safe in your assumption, Schwein. Having met 7, I can attest that he has the superficial male characteristics.

That was a great overall performance. I believe we had over 50 shots, a lot of which were high quality, and controlled the majority of play in Chicagos's end of the ice. Our dmen are really gaining confidence, you can really see it in Pulock's play, and I love that Johnny B seems to be wht we originally expected of him...solid hard nosed defender with a great shot that he often puts on net. Even Pelech is playing better with more confidence. On the front end, love the infusion of Ho-Sang. I want to like DalColle, however, I think his skating hinders his play at this level, but I guess its still too early to tell for sure?? Lehner has been superb. Let's hope this play is sustainable, if so we are in for an exciting spring.

Anyone think Toews sits when Hickey is healthy?
I say phuck no!

- Wario

If you listened to Trotz interview after the game you would think there is ZERO shot that he is the guy sitting. They flat our asked him that exact question and he talked for a bit how Toews had made this team out of camp and Lou talked him into letting him play in B-port for a while first. mentioned him coming off a Huge injury last year. They wanted him to get his confidence in AHL first and then bring him up... the feeling I got after hearing it was there is ZERO shot Toews is going anywhere when Hickey is healthy. If you have Pulock, Toews, Leddy, Boychuk (who is playing well in Trotz system), and Mayfield (who had an off game but seems to be improving) as your starting 5 and then letting Pelech, Hickey, and Sbisa fight for 6th spot I can easily live with that...

I was just about to type that MDC looked lost and slow last night. That was by far his worse game yet... I would not be surprised to see him sitting the next game or sent back down if Filpula is ready.

Ho Sang played ok, but seems to be regressing a bit to old bad habits. I hope they nip this in the bud quickly...

Hate to say it but Leo played very well last night. He still can't finish but really played very well.

I don’t know when or why Pelech became this top prospect. Toews should be in the lineup over him. If pelech walked for nothing nobody would miss him.

Pelech and hickey are OK 5/6 D-men or depth guys if you have someone get hurt. They just are not a top 4... and I am fine with them being in the mix. It's certainly better than the washed up vets like Sbisa (Strait, Martinek, Mattau, Zidlicky, Carkner, etc.).

I watched Ho Sang turn over the puck a few times. But I also watched him advance the puck many more times out of their zone and/or through the neutral zone. IMO, his play is a net positive for that line. And, for whatever reason, the Isles chances of winning seem to improve when he is in the line up. Ho Sang and Toews MUST stay in the line up.

I agree John. Isles are better with JHS in the lineup. Record seems to back it up. JHS and Toews need to stay. MDC is a tougher read as he is not playing with good offense players. Leo and Fili are not playing that can consistently get MDC the puck in prime scoring chances. Problem is MDC will not bump Lee or Beau from their spots.

The Lee-Nelson-Ho Sang line had a mostly bad game last night. Nelson looked pretty bad for most of the night.

Amazing how tolerable an off-night is when the team is being run properly

Amazing when you have a solid system in place. Nelson really is out of place as a 2C. If Isles keep Nelson he needs to be a 3C.

I agree to me ho Sang seems to be regressing a bit back to some bad habits. Nelson I thought was weak on the puck also and that line as a whole looked like it was misfiring most of the night imo. Like you said winning cures everything. We won that’s what matters but I hope Ho Sang straightens out his game and gets back on track.

I've noticed a little bit of the same with Ho Sang, trying to be too fancy...but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Maybe a healthy scratch if it keeps up and Eberle is healthy, but I don't think it's been bad enough to warrant sending him back to the American league.

I agree but it’s beginning to become noticeable. Trying to make dangerous plays at the blue line and not making the safe plays he was making when he first came up. Hopefully it’s just a little bad patch and both Trotz and him correct it because I’m positive Trotz is seeing what we are.

I keep waiting for the game when both Lee AND Barzal’s lines rip it up at the same time. Have not seen much of that thus far.

The thing is, if you never touch the puck, you can avoid ever turning over the puck. Point being, Ho Sang is a guy counted on to advance the puck, so he's naturally going to turn it over more than a guy who's not doing much with it. So while I watched him turn over the puck a few times, it wasn't obvious to me at the time that he had great alternatives, unless you subscribe to Butchie's "chip and chase" theory.

Yeah he did not have a good game. It’s ok when that happens if the other lines pick up the slack which is what went down.

Yeah the entire line had a tough game, but everyone else seemed to play well. I thought Cizikas had a noticeably solid game.
