Do you see the New York Islanders making any big moves via trade? Definitely need more of a scoring punch. -- @tswizzle_31

Did you notice I didn't include Jordan Eberle as a potential target for the Wild in the answer to the previous question? I think the Islanders are going to remain in the hunt for a playoff berth and that's why I don't think they'll trade Eberle, even if the forward doesn't have a contract for next season. General manager Lou Lamoriello will actively scour the market for help. I'd look on the wing first. Adding a top-six forward to play on the wing could push Anthony Beauvillier into a third-line role, which increases the Islanders' scoring depth. Forward Andrew Ladd will create even greater depth when he returns from a lower-body injury. The only thing that changes my thinking on the Islanders looking for help through a trade is if forward Joshua Ho-Sang starts to break out. If they can go after Duchene, fine, but I wouldn't worry about the Islanders center depth of Mathew Barzal, Brock Nelson, Valtteri Filppula and Casey Cizikas. If they get Duchene, Nelson could move to the wing.

um.. no thanks. Beau looks fantastic. He and Barzal should remain on same line forever. Their speed drives teams nuts. Adding a guy like Ho-sang with his speed creates a match up nightmare for teams. you watch those last 2 games and can see just how much speed this team has and really drives teams nuts. Then you have Leddy and Pulock come flying up the ice. When you get Toews in the mix too this will really be fun to watch these guys relentless attack.

You can't worry about losing players for nothing when you have a competitive team. The Blackhawks lost Big Buff for nothing, but their consolation was they won the Cup. I know this current team is unlikely to win the Cup, but making the playoffs is more important than garnering an extra 2nd round pick which is probably the most you'd get for Eberle.
- JohnScammo

I know it's not losing you know who for nothing but still. Going to be a very interesting deadline for Lou. Isles do not show signs of falling out of the race.

I agree. I do not move Beau away from Barzal. Again Lou better bring in a serious wing if Isles even think of moving Beau down.

Now you're really asking for the impossible. Next you'll expect him to clean up his typos, too.

(frank) the two of you i use my phone and when i copy tweets it only copies the actual tweet not who said it. Usually i say staple or gross under it as my citation mr english class.

Edit this phone wont capitalize the letter i <----- see but it lets the worst typos through all the time on hockeybuzz. On twitter it will auto correct. I blame eklund

I still say Brayden Schenn should be a target. Duchene has been playing really well this year and would cost a lot. I think Schenn would be a better fit for Trotz's system and is still having a nice year (7-14-21 in 28gp). Has one more year on his deal, too. That'd give us a little breathing room to figure things out for the long-term.

What a nightmare in general. I was listening to Spittin Chiclets and they were talking about how his contract went from a full NTC to a modified NTC where he could submit a list of 8-10 teams he didn't want to go to...but him and his agent forgot to submit the list by the deadline so the Blues moved him wherever they wanted

Playoffs are nice but I worry they will not move someone like Eberle because of the playoff race. Hate to lose him for nothing and rather not give him a big deal. Isles are playing well but I do not see them being built for a long playoff run unless Lou becomes a serious buyer.
- ses111

PO's are what every team tries to make IMHO. You want to be in the mix and have games that count in the spring. It's good for the team/players moving forward to get experience and the fans want it and again when you invest 500 Million on a team and then another heap of cash on a new Arena to play in you want to see success.
I think Lou and Trotz realize what they have and I don't see them trading away the future to get help unless they truly feel it helps them move closer to the ultimate goal of #5
I mean look at what they have done so far after the organization lost their franchise player. They didn't go out and sign someone to just make a splash in the FA Market or trade for a big name. They brought in players that they thought would help the organization right the ship and become competitive and play the game the way Trotz demands and evaluate what they have. So far so good and if they can keep it up then the Old Barn might be rocking in the PO's.
At the end of the day, that's all we can ask for at this point of their rein.

Interesting analysis of Dobson's season this year, if you can handle looking at numbers and all the "basement dwellers nerdifying the game". Probably don't want to click that link if you can't.

It seems like a lot of speculation, although I'm unsure of where that NTC list news came from, so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt for now...but it's not looking great for him.

Frankly, assuming all that is true, I'd blame his agent. Guy is collecting a percentage of Berglund's paycheck and if he forgot to submit that list on time....that's on him.

Schenn could be a nice addition. If JHS keeps this up and if Toews can come up and play well it's some bonus.
