got to give hickey his ice time. four more years...

Dude if you don’t see Hickey and Pulock as a pair being the best and most consistent pair out there game in game out your watching a different game than most. Except maybe Cpt Blowhard.

No doubt Upstate, total team win with the injuries to a top 4 D man and top C2 out there in the 3rd. Whole team huge effort. Greiss was great.

Really looking at the team, they are above average defensively imho a need some scoring help so they may be in the market for a Duchene or Panarin type before a defenseman. I will get the push back on here but it is the truth. We have a ton of D prospects in the system.

We talk about that earlier today dobson and wilde are going to be good

Yes agreed. Really the team is above average defensively now and below offensively. I know it will be hard from most to get that but after losing JT and getting Trotz as coach that’s the fact. The bottom 6 has been solidified.

Their d prospect pool is huge imho not all will wear an Islanders jersey because there’s some that will be traded. Lou’s got a lot to work with in the next trade deadline and beyond. That’s a good sign.

The New York Islanders have conceded the second fewest goals in the eastern conference (Boston) . Amazing turnaround from last year when the #isles had one of the worst defensive records in the NHL

Well trotz said it was easy tonstop teams from scoring

thank you Upstate this team will be a buyer for offense at the trade deadline imho. And will make the POs

That’s a hell of a team they beat here tonight.

Add myself to that lol. I dislike Hickeys game. He's way too experienced to make the mistakes he makes.

I'm surprised we're talking about Hickey and Pelech when it's Mayfield and Boychuk who had great games last night...the slow guys against a fast team.

Mayfield was physical, defensively solid, and was involved offensively. I know the guy makes the occasional boneheaded play out there, but I don't know what more you could ask from a third-pair guy than what he's giving.

It was a very nice win. Team played a smart simple game and avoided turnover. Ho Sang did a good jo getting the puck in deep.

Even though it wasn't a great call, I thought his NHL career was over after that double penalty They cut to Trotz and he looked like my parents back when my high school report card would arrive.

But I like that he rolled him back out there in the third period, and even had him out there with around five minutes to go. Part of that was probably out of necessity with Nelson going down. Which brings me to...hopefully Nelson's injury isn't too serious, because as we were saying yesterday, and have said before, the center depth on this team is virtually nonexistent.

He's a solid goalie. I would have been fine if he wanted to stay with the Isles. I don't think he wanted anything to do with them.

If Boston trades Charlie McAvoy we better go "all-in" on getting him back to Strong Island.

I was a fan of his from back during his strong playoff run with Montreal...but he's hard to figure out. He looks like a real-deal number one sometimes, and, well, not even close to that other times. It wasn't just on the Island, either. Everywhere he's been he's had trouble locking down the starter role.

Well that was an interesting game.

There must have been a dispensary inside the arena. My jaw almost hit the floor when the Avs fans thought Nelson was holding Rantanen's stick and then chanted "these refs suck" after that garbage knee by Cole.

It did not look good for Ho Sang after those penalties. If Nelson is out for a while, I would move Bailey to center and call up MDC.

Probably a while. Just cannot see a trade happening now and I'd rather not call up Gionta.

I think it'll be Gionta. Probably Filp moving up to center Lee and Eberle, Martin-Cizikas-Clutter getting more ice time, and Gionta centering whatever's left. But...hopefully Nelson's OK and ready to go.

I would be shocked if it's not Gionta. If it's a short term injury, I cannot see moving Bailey to center.
