Can we stop with the komarov hate? He has been doing his job defensively and killing penalties. It’s not his fault trotz put him in the shoot out

You missed my edit. #6 is your favorite, Clutterbuck. Also, another favorite of yours, Ross The Boss Johnston scores higher than Ryan Pulock.

Point is quantity of shots is a weak indicator. Quality of shots is far more important. I'm not sure anyone has developed such a statistical measurement, unfortunately.

And nobody should care to. These players hate these stupid corsi numbers cause one day a hockey nerd who probably lives in his parents basement with no job had nothing better to do. It’s a joke and makes the nhl look like a joke as well. I see all these bloggers on here writing about that like they know what they are talking about. I mean anyone can copy and paste these days but it’s nonsense

If everyone's only answer to criticism is going to be "well Trotz and Lou said it so it has to be right" then posting on a message board where people discuss, debate, and exchange ideas probably isn't for you

High-danger scoring chances. Leo Komarov is 312th in the league in iHDCF (individual high-danger corsi-for). Unfortunately I'm not sure if there is an "against" metric. If there is, I can't find it yet.

Komarov is 10th, out of 17 forwards that have played this year, in that iHDCF stat, on the Islanders.

He is slow, can't shoot to save his life. yes, he kills penalties and blocks shots ,but he has been set up point blank a bunch of times and failed to score. I think he is a waste of a spot on the 3rd line, especially the way Filpulla has been playing.

Statistics have their place. However, it's necessary to keep their flaws in mind when using them. As chiefs admitted, they are imperfect.

By the way, you realize, don't you, that I was agreeing with you? I think Komarov has been more than adequate in his 3rd line role, Corsi numbers notwithstanding. I still think Barry should have used Nelson instead of Leo in that shootout.

That adding someone else who stinks and paying him $3M/year for 4 years was a terrible decision

The 2 that come to mind is the awesome pass by Filpulla that He had the whole net to shoot out and goalie made waffle save, and the pass to him in front of net by himself where he stick handled it until the goalie poked it off his stick.

Agreed I would have used anyone but since the islanders suck in shoot outs maybe he just felt what the hell maybe I will get lucky. To me that is not the players fault in that situation

With contracts everyone gets bad contracts. Every time someone signs a contract in this league people complain how bad it is and the world is dying. Again there are bigger issues on this team than komarov and his contract

Actually no especially the islanders. I am sure that at the beginning of the season trotz and Lou say down with all these charts for every nhl player and looked at their corsi numbers. Give me a break

In Komarov's defense, his offense really shouldn't be weighed heavily in his evaluation. It's not what he was signed for and he's never been a particularly big offensive contributor. My issue is with those who think that he's good defensively. He's not and I can't really figure out why anyone thinks that other than because they read some quote somewhere.

I'm pretty much fine with Komarov until another RW is unmistakably beating down the door to take his place. And I'm really happy with Trotz, obviously. But, damn, I'm absolutely going to rip Komarov for placing his shootout attempt into a different timezone, and I don't think it's blasphemy to criticize Trotz for putting him in that spot...or for doing things like playing Cornhackle in the top six.
