It's so minor league. No other sport does things like this. That should tell the NHL everything.

It’s like baseball deciding a game with a home run derby.

I gotta be honest. I’ve always been a defender of Nelson because he does put up pts year after year. But, man is he soft. He makes Bailey look like a power forward. I’m really tired of watching him be a pu$$y. I wouldn’t even care if he took a game ending penalty if he just showed some jam for once.
- kindlyrick

Nelson has a nice wrist shot. Brings very little else. But at least his wrister gives him a chance in the shoot out. Not sure what Barry sees in Komarov to make him think he might score in the shoot out.

Bettman needs to go. Bobby Orr would be a great commish.

I'd be fine if they eliminated shoot outs AND OT. Go back to the traditional way of tie games. I don't think they even had OT until the 1980s.

Money talks and while Bettman isn’t well liked the league is growing. 32 teams next year. As much as it’s en vogue to hate Bettman, he’s made the NHL money. Technically it’s successful. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bring back ties. If you want OT then play 5 on 5 for 10 minutes.

The OT failed because guys tanked to get the pt. But with 4 on 4 or 3 on 3 scoring is much easier as there’s more open ice obviously

Gary is great for business but he does not understand the game. Have to think they can find someone that can do both.

That was a huge point we earned in that game, but an even bigger point we lost. If you get a PP in OT.. You HAVE to score. That point will come back to haunt us in the end.

I flagged this on accident...

But, the answer is no...they weren't all that bad, but they were all pretty bad. They have these lightning fast guys like Beau and Barzal who are electric on breakaways during games, but when they get to the shootout, they slowly creep in toward the net instead of going in with speed. It happens so often that it's either by design or simply never talked about and discouraged.

- UIF

Daytsuk qent in slow like that and kane the top players do it trying to make goalie move first. Difference is those guys are insane

Make no mistake. The owners only care about money. Hence the game has changed drastically from when i was a kid till now. The owners aren’t hockey traditionalists. They just wanna get paid. I don’t blame them, but it’s a fine line. Either way Bettman has added how many teams to the league since he become commish? Prob a question for chief. lol

It was more infuriating that feeding Pulock one-timers was very clearly not working and they couldn't adapt and figure out another plan of attack on the fly. After like 5 one timers that were blocked they should have tried something else.
- eichiefs9

The pens could have had a guy lay on the ice in front of pulock and he still would have shot into him, need a guy up top and on half wall to make that top pk man have two choices to try and defend

Power play is just awful. Shoot the puck and crash the net. It's a simple game.
- niteislander

Yup you either need a big shot with traffic in front to take away the goalies eyes or passes that cross the slot line and get the goalie to open up side to side

That's outside of my scope

I did see someone tweet that the BOG wanted to expand the playoffs by 4 teams and have some sort of one game play-in games and Bettman opposed that.

Isles need more shoot first type players. The mix is not good with this team. PP and offense will continue to struggle.

If you were at the game last night I was the guy who did the trivia questions.

2-for-2 ... Kasper would be very proud of me getting the second question right.

"who was the first Lithuanian player in the NHL. Played for the Isles in the 92/93 season?"

- niteislander

Kasper baby!!! One of my favorites with his hip checks. Great job!!

As do I. 16 teams is enough. If you aren't in the top half, you have no business playing in the postseason.

Though I wouldn't be opposed if they switched it to the top 8 teams from each conference making the postseason.

Been saying that since day one to many guys who think pass all the time and it usually ends up on the other team stick. Need to trade one of them

Last thing the NHL needs is more playoff teams. They need the old playoff format.
