He has looked good. Which is why many were confused you bring back Martin when you have someone younger, cheaper, and tougher.
- ses111

Because Lou likes a certain brand of hockey and Martin fills that. But, when and if he gets injured Ross can fill in and to me, he’s got real upside and is cheap

Ahhhh. Ok well that makes sense

It makes sense why Ebs wasn't out there. It still doesn't explain why Komarov was 2nd.

It's on the players too. Hockey has room for plenty of improvisation and it was obvious that what they were trying wasn't gonna get the job done. As far as systems go, I'd really like to see them try his one-timer from the half-wall. Let Bailey play the top of the diamond and QB things from there.

Agreed. They had that game. Pens didn’t beat the isles, they beat themselves. 4 on 3 is easier to score than 5 on 4. The refs were letting the Pens go too. They let a holding of the stick go and then FINALLY HAD to call a penalty. That shoulda been the game.

Hard for Ross to show a lot if he's not playing consistently. You can always find another tough guy if needed. The game is changing and I do not think you need both and need both playing in the same game. The top 6 is not playing well enough to have both in the lineup.

It makes sense why Eberle didn't go 2nd. But Komarov?? I would have tried Nelson before Komarov.

I gotta be honest. I’ve always been a defender of Nelson because he does put up pts year after year. But, man is he soft. He makes Bailey look like a power forward. I’m really tired of watching him be a pu$$y. I wouldn’t even care if he took a game ending penalty if he just showed some jam for once.

You know that Bailey scored, right? That's not considered bad, that's actually good.

(I figured you'd better hear it from me, and not spartiarti. )

I like Bailey with the puck in general. He’s never been a shooter but he can thread the needle as good as anyone. It’s that pass that he’s capable of making which ultimately has the goalie moving in the wrong direction. The lack of movement by the players both with their own feet and the puck is inexcusable at that level.

Power play is just awful. Shoot the puck and crash the net. It's a simple game.

He does not put up enough points to put up with his soft play. Isles need to find a way to get a better 2C to take the pressure off Barzal.

If you were at the game last night I was the guy who did the trivia questions.

2-for-2 ... Kasper would be very proud of me getting the second question right.

"who was the first Lithuanian player in the NHL. Played for the Isles in the 92/93 season?"

Meaning where he was drafted and what was expected. 20 goals a year for a second rounder is palatable if not above expectations. But hockey is so much more than goal scoring. He’s just a phucking pu$$y and it’s really tough to watch.

In theory Snow was looking at Tavares, Strome, Nelson, Cizikas as his middle. Really worked out well Haha

Letting the guy who has been set up point blank about 5 times and failed to score do a shoot out is beyond insanity.

Odd that. I mean, what possible benefit could the coaching staff foresee in such an approach?
- Wildschwein

No idea. I don't think the coaches are specifically telling them, "skate in as slow as you can and be predictable," but it's happened enough -- with Barzal especially -- where someone should probably intervene and tell him and the others, "This time, use your speed!"

The easy answer is they probably just don't focus on the shootout all that much with all the other stuff the team's gotta straighten out, but, as lame as the shootout is, it's part of the game for now and you're giving away points if you keep doing the same thing that's not working...

The shootout itself is a joke. It literally has nothing to do with the game that was played yet somehow it’s a decider.

Yep! As much as I hate the SO, it's important and the Isles are losing points. Would not have minded seeing what Ho Sang could have done. Had to have been better than Leo.

It's so minor league. No other sport does things like this. That should tell the NHL everything.
