What sucks about that one was the jets looked kind of half arsed tonight for the most part. Islanders just couldn’t get it done.
- Cptmjl

One of the commentators said it was the Jets' 3rd game in 4 nights and the 2 previous games had gone to either a SO or OT. It sucks, because the Isles grabbed the momentum early in the 3rd, only to have Barzal take a real dumbass penalty in the offensive zone. No excuse for that. Throw in Pelech's pathetic clearing attempt on the PK, and all the momentum shifted when the Jets scored...........and then scored again.

The Jets are a solid (frank)ing squad, but yeah... that was a game they needed to win. Jets were down two of their top 4 D and had played loads of minutes coming into this one.

Barzal looks to be bitten by the sophomore slump. This team has done better than expected so far they just do not have the horses.

Duchene is the only C that is half way decent available next ufa period....no way you can let Nelson go and hope that Duchene signs.. there is no C depth in the organization unless you guys want Fritz to be 2c. Isles are stuck with Nelson if he even resigns
- theguy

I seriously hope our Cup winning GM and coach can do better than just being stuck with guys. Lou and Barry need to find a way to bring in better talent. Play Beau as 2C if a better 2C cannot be acquired. Beau can probably put up better overall numbers than Nelson anyway.

They can't invent players that aren't there... the Ufa crop is not much.. if you draft a C he isn't going to be NHL ready... esp for Lou or Barry.. Give Beau a shot at the 2C spot sure, but i am not sold he is the solution. Seems to work on Barzals wing much better. I hate Bailey on that line. Nelson is not this teams biggest problem, and if they can resign him for 2 or 3 years worth being stuck. I seriously doubt he signs for less the a 5 or 6 year deal, and i doubt he resigns with Isles. my bet is he goes to Minnesota

It's not easy but Lou and Barry need to be creative. We already had years of a GM would could not make moves. Isles have a boatload of defensive prospects. See what Nelson and these prospects can bring back for a 2C. Try Bailey at 2C if Beau is a better fit on wing. Bailey loves to pass anyway so let him set his wings up.

Bailey is the better option... he can not skate the puck into the zone. he would have to be paired with a winger that can skate into zone or a dman like leddy or possibly pulock that can do that and dish off and get back into position little risky with a bad pass will come back the other way quick. he still isn't great on faceoffs. if you got Panarin now we are talking. least that line would have a chance

As far as D prospects go... i would rather go through a rebuild then to give up Wilde or Dobson. And thats what it would take plus plus to get a decent C. I think everyone will agree our current D core is horrible so why would you stay stuck there and give up possible solutions. Isles are not in a win cup mode that trading one of them will put them over the top. Barzal is still learning the game and it is showing it in spades this year.. hopefully he gets out of this funk and back to being the guy we all know he could be...

Poopy loss. I’m going to say I’m over the clutterbuck on pp experiment. Also cluttersuck on team period.

I hope ladd never comes back. If you could unload clutterbuck and ladd that’s 10-13mm right there

Am I wrong thinking the Reeves/Wilson hit should have only been a simple minor? I didn't see any head contact, just a somewhat late hit.

You're right. It was interference, but shoulder to shoulder contact and not late. If Wilson has his helmet on right he's fine.

Hard to see from that angle, but did Wilson's noggin hit the ice?
