Well then lucky for us fans you’re not in charge. Ha. MDC was brought up as a reward for his play in the minors. I’d rather him learn Trotz’ system on the 4th line playing 5 min a night and be invisible there, rather than 18-20 min in the top 6 and be invisible there.

It’ll be interesting to see how they fare against the Caps tonight.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. You mean to tell me, that you can actually fire a GM BEFORE firing a coach!?

And did they first go on a "listening tour" before firing Hex?

Bertuzzi came into the league with fire and while he may not have wanted to be “that guy” he had 150+ pims in 3 outta 4 seasons in Guelph as opposed to MDC having an average of 25 for Oshawa. Bert was in fact a true power forward. MDC was drafted high for his pt production only. Oh and Garth thought he was a high character guy 🤷🏻‍♂️
- kindlyrick

And yet Milbury and various Islander coaches got nothing out of him despite years of trying.....

MDC being a top 6 player could be a stretch at this point. Stranger things have happened. I still think playing MDC on this 4th line is not going to show you much. What can MDC do with Gionta and Johnston?
- ses111

Everything but score goals... He can check, hit, play sound defensive hockey, etc.

If playing on the 4th line with Gionta and Johnston is a reward I'll pass. MDC is a shooter so put him with players that can pass. Isles have a few of these players and not many shooters.
- ses111

I can't really question sending him down and calling up Fritz if what they need is a quick fill-in for the fourth line. Fritz is better suited for that role and Dal Colle is a weakness there.

I don't expect Dal Colle to become anything, but I don't read anything into the games he played in either. If he ever does become an NHLer, it'd probably be as an opportunistic supporting player on a scoring line...the kind that sneaks into an area while the attention is on the two other players that drive the line and has enough sense around the net to finish plays off. Again, I'm not expecting even that, but if he has a path, that's probably it. That's not the kind of player that goes on a fourth line and transforms it into anything greater.

Given that, it's probably not a bad thing for him that he was mostly unnoticeable in two blowout losses on a line whose primary purpose was don't (frank) up, and buy enough time for the real players to rest.

Guys have to be put in a position to succeed. Some standout on their own (Crosby, Ovi, JT, etc.), most need the right system and linemates to be successful. Maybe MDC ends up being a career AHL player. Maybe 3rd or 4th liner. Maybe in year 6 or 7 he pulls a Bertuzzi and becomes a very nice power forward. Who knows. If they see something in him and want to develop that, fine. If they trade him and all they can get is a used ice cream cone, fine. MDC has only been under this regime for a few months now.
- Isleshockeyman

MDC was called up and honestly no matter where he played it was a shot to impress the new bosses. It’s not only about scoring goals but also his play away from the puck.
Honestly to me he was unimpressive and obviously to Lou and Trotz as well.
Tito was demoted to the Shat Signings lines ( 3 & 4th) and made himself noticed and was rewarded by being place up to the top 6 again.
I’m not addressing this towards you IMH just giving my opinion on MDC.

This really makes me wish that The Fourth Period wasn't just Hockeybuzz and Eklund re-branded under a different name.

Lou to Holmgren: Snow is under contract to the Islanders. Besides, he gets me my coffee every morning. So you'll need to offer something.... Give me a 3rd round pick for Andrew Ladd.

Have no idea where MDC May slot in the future if anywhere in the NHL? Haven’t seen enough of him to have an idea. He didn’t do much while he was up albeit playing with Gionta. Maybe he’s a late bloomer maybe or should I say most likely he’s a bust who knows really most of this board back in the day thought nino was worthless playing with similar garbage. He was given an opportunity in Minny and did well so who knows?

To be honest I would rather someone else b/c Garth would not trade the young guns on their roster. I want someone to come in and pull a Milbury and trade Sanheim, Ghost, and/or Prov. Garth would not do that.. He might fire the coach though and put his buddy Capuano in charge. lol

Going from Hextall to Snow is about as parallel move as you can get. If a team like the Flyers are serious about winning (which they most likely are), there's no wayyyyyyy they could consider Snow....could they???

I'd love to see Snow run a team I'm in no way attached to so I can finally share in the joke the rest of the league got to enjoy for 12 years while I was holding out hope for some grand master plan.

Of the many head scratching moves, to this day I cannot believe I heard him say, if given the chance he'd have made the Vanek trade again.

Epitome of arrogance, and quite frankly naivete, to double down on your mistake

Nah, that's Hextall to Francis.

They both got fired for almost literally the same things.

I was more referring to the fact that both were mediocre goalies in the NHL, and neither improved their teams all that much. Are the flyers that much of a better team from when Hextall took over until right now? Cause the isles weren't

No, he became a good NHLer AFTER he left the Islanders. He wasn't a good NHLer on the Islanders.
