The tell tale sign of a real NHL coach is his consistent ability to be real in interviews and not coddle every player with the canned responses we’ve heard time and time again. He’s just flat out honest and it’s totally new for us as fans.

You can say the same about Lou doing interviews. Because of Snowjob, I thought GM interviews were not allowed by the NHL.

I've wanted Barry coaching the Isles since we was out with the Preds. The guy can flat out coach.

The team as a whole is much improved. Whatever the outcome of the season it’s nice to watch a hockey game and feel like your team is in it from the drop.

So far it appears like Lou Lams signings are bringing what they were ask to bring each night. To me, those guys like Kuhnhackle and Filppula are playing well on both sides of the ice. Everyone has a role. But more importantly they’re executing.

- kindlyrick

Imagine that. Bring in a real coach and look what happens. See Snowbag. You don't manage with your ego! Idiot!

I said it before the season. If the country club culture ended, there was accountability and they were playing within a system I would call it a successful season. Anything more than that is just extra gravy. I think they've accomplished that already.

Imagine what Barry would do with a stud defenseman and a few better forwards.

I can happily imagine it hockeyman. i would not mind seeing what Barry can do with Toews and maybe Aho. I've not heard how Aho is doing though? I think Wotherspoon is playing well.

It's a strange new world we're in. It's almost like it's a real organization.

I still think that Lou and Barry are assessing the troops a little. I think Lou has a trade or 2 up his sleeve coming in the next 3-6 weeks. Just a gut feeling. I think that's why we haven't seen any of the kids up yet. If Lou and/or Barry say they're not ready to come up yet then I need to believe them. Pretty sure they know better than I. Since they've forgotten more about the game than I will ever know.

well fellas seems isles fans need to leaving coaching and player decisions to Lou and trotz b/c most people have been dead wrong. remember how negative everyone here was on Komarov and Filipula signings. Both have been exactly as advertised.

Trotz is a master of getting most out of his players. If you playing bad, he makes you sit and put alittle fire under their butts. Beau is classic example.

Nice win and the reason why the isles rangers rivalry isnt what is use to be is b/c we dominate them. Im ok with that.

7-0-0 vs the metropolitan division is a franchise record. Also good reason why we in 2nd place. Lets take first on sunday, im taken my son to that game.

i think Nelson has been Trotz favorite player. Nelson does look like a completely different player this year. I am still a bit worried he just playing for a big contract.

That could be. Or maybe having a real coach has forced him to actually play and skate.

Isles keep playing well and they will be in a very good position in terms of trades and trading from a position of strength for once. No question Barry and Lou have a great track record. I still do not like Leo for 4 and Hickey for 4. Fili at one year I did not have a problem with and Moose for a year was no issue. I was hoping for a better goalie than Robin.

Komarov is absolutely terrible, which I guess technically is how he was advertised.

Well, my power went out right as Nelson tied it in the first. So....it was fun "watching" the game through twitter.

I only watched up to the 2nd. Looked like a clinic of how not to play defense by both teams.

Right, 3G 5A on 3rd line. PKer player, Hits, Great lockeroom guy and team is in 2nd place in Metro.
Yeah he is terrible.
Intangibles Echief. Not everyone going to be a 40 goal scorer.

Trotz says everyone has a responsibility. Third line was called the checking line for a reason.

I get it, its been a long time since this team has seen a amazing coach and great GM.

That's a 36pt pace.

Listen it's great the Islanders are playing mostly well, but Komarov isn't a good hockey player.

they need just trade JHS already. If you arent going to bring him up then get something for him.

I cant believe people are still discussing Da Colle. The kid is a bust. Call a spade a spade.

3 players pick in top ten in 2010-14 NHL draft have never been in NHL as regulars. McIlrath, Griffin Reinhardt and Dal Colle. Two of them were islanders picks. How snow was able to flip Reinhardt for what turned to be Barzal/Beau draft is amazing.
