We all know his history but right now hes playing great maybe he needed the right coach. I really like eberle hes shifty and plays great with barzal his contract will be the issue and we have two guys that are top 6 and one a top three really in the system. Cant move him if they are in it at deadline though

Edit, at least snow isnt in charge of this. I wonder what he does these days

Nelson has some history with Lee and Bails is a good player. They have been together since training camp and they have some chemistry for sure.
I think Nelson was the guy who Cappy and Dougie used as the plug in guy and played everywhere and with everybody.
Having consistent line mates I think will bring consistency to his game.

Maybe

Last year he had consistent linemates.......Ladd and Chimera........consistently bad.

Actually, that's not entirely true, as I think about it. Johnston did time on that line, as did Prince and Quine when they weren't injured.

Trotz lists Lee-Nelson-Bailey as the first line and Barzal's line as the second. At least over the past two games, the ice time sort of reflects that. I'm sure other teams still defend Barzal as the biggest threat.

Even with Nelson playing as well as he is, if, say, Duchene became available on the trade market, would you guys be in favor of putting something together for him with an eye toward re-signing him, and then trade Nelson (probably in a later deal rather than the one for Duchene...), or would you keep everything as-is?

A bigger name centering that line probably makes it seem more like a first line in the eyes of opposing coaches and maybe takes some pressure off Barzal's line. But on the other hand, the attention Barzal gets is probably part of what's opened things up for Nelson's line.

To add to this, when he was with a distributor last year (Ho-Sang early on...) he was scoring goals. I mean, Nelson definitely is more responsible than not for his lack of production that season, but he wasn't put in the best position to play to his strengths, either.

I mean Duchene has a bigger name but does that mean he will play well with Lee and Bailey? If that line continues to play as well as they have on both sides of the puck why not sign Nelson and Lee long term and keep that line together. We know what they can do.
We let Frans, Okie and Martin go and brought in better or just as good as players and it didn’t work. Things don’t always go as they look on paper.

I cant remember the last time this team one 5 in a row? Anyone??

prob never since the Snow Regime. Isles in first, when is last time you saw that. Lets keep it going. Having two hot goalies always helps.

For those of you concerned about lee, nelson and ebs leaving, Not having spent 13M on Tavares help chance of keeping at least 2 of them.

The biggest case for sticking with Nelson, if he stays productive, is that he can play at both ends of the rink, and that makes his line almost what the Bailey-Nielsen-Okposo line was when it was really going during the 2013 run to the playoffs: a line that can play defensively against top lines while being a scoring threat itself.

The case for adding a bigger offensive name at center is to give opposing coaches something else they have to plan for and hopefully to drive more offense from that line and Barzal's line.

A lot depends on Nelson. They're asking a lot of him and he's answering so far, but, given his history, you wonder if it's better to Believe or to sell high and go after someone else if a center's available. I'm not sure what to do, but I'm fine just riding it out for now while that line's on fire.

Ho-Sang with two more assists so far today; it's still in the first period. I think that's six points in his last three games. Dal Colle with a goal and an assist, and four points in his last two games. And Bellows scored his first goal since opening night. Toews has a goal, too.

Hopefully this continues UIF. Would be great to have real options at Bridge for once and especially at forward. Isles seem to have a lot of options on D.

No thanks on Duchene..When he was in Colorado what did he do there? best player on a garbage team, but that team got much better once he left. Players came alive and now mid to high level team with decent goal tending. Went to Ottawa. Hasn't really impressed there either. There are few elite players that make the team better and he is not one of them. don't see enough of a upgrade over nelson to make it worth it.

I watched the second and third periods of Bridgeport's game. As far as Isles prospect forwards, apart from the points they put up, the order they stood out in is Ho-Sang first, who was probably the best player on the ice for either team and was constantly driving the offense during his shifts. He's got speed, hands, and vision...but he still makes probably too many dumb and risky passes through the middle of the ice.

Dal Colle was next, who didn't look bad at all. He looked hungry...he wanted the puck and put himself in position to get it. His hands looked OK, too...taking off-target passes in stride and things like that. Overall, better than I expected (although, what I expected was Vukota's gif of that guy falling all over the place at the public skating session, so it wasn't a high bar to clear).

Bellows didn't really stand out to me. The good news is he wasn't afraid to go into the corners or along the boards and throw the occasional hit. But mostly he took his shifts without me noticing him. His second goal was a nice shot right off the draw.

I've always thought it was harder to judge d-men in the AHL since it's a lot less structured than the NHL...everything looks a lot more chaotic on D once teams get a good forecheck going. But, that said, Toews made everything look pretty much effortless, and Wotherspoon was the other d-man that looked a cut above the others to me.

So last week after the Ho Sang article where he opened his mouth Lou gave him a call and said, Josh you want out? Start making some plays and play well and we will trade your ass.

I’d like 2 more points tonight and want to see isles in first at all star break.

6-0 vs metropolitan division is definitely impressive. That ties franchise record by the 82-83 team. That’s being in some good company.

Isles winning 5 straight and Rangers 3.
