Adding to the the ‘not imminent’ department, Islanders D Nick Leddy is also on the radar of some teams. Told he was discussed last season, and while Lou is new GM, believe Isles willing to listen.

Not sure how reliable this guy is

I imagine he is. Not many D can skate like he does and put up 40 points consistently.

Bring Toews up see what we have in him. Maybe it makes Leddy expendable for the right player.

Leddy should get the best return outside of pulock and toews is very similar. I think hes expendable

Pulock I don’t trade. I like Leddy even though his play has been meh lately we know he’s capable of more but he has a decent contract and he most likely needs a change of scenery. I think we could actually get a decent return for him coupled with something else.

With a signed contract of course yeah. We would have to add a bit though. I wouldn’t give up our first maybe Pelech (aka Trojan horse😂). All kidding aside Leddy with his transition game would most likely be deadly on that team I would hate to help them (more than we already have)😂.

Pulock no wouldnt move him but toews is similar to leddy and thats what makes leddy expendable. This team could use a guy like nylander and all he does when wahlstrom comes along is push beau to permanant 3rd line and that's ok you need 3 scoring lines anymore

So Toews has played how many games in the NHL and that makes Leddy tradable?
Honestly you trade from streangth and The Islanders Blue line is far from that.
Don’t think trading Leddy right now before the prospects prove they can take over is a bit pre mature. Kinda like you monkeys in the sack.

Agreed. Was exactly my point earlier of bringing toews up in my previous post to see what the guy is capable of.

Leddy isn’t expendable yet until we see what these kids can do. Would love to have Nylander on this team it would be a little poetic justice especially if he killed it here but we need to find out what we have in toews, wotherspoon, etc before we do that. At this point we’re talking hypotheticals until we see what the kids are capable of.

Agreed as thin as the Isles are at the blue line trading Leddy for me would be a mistake before We know exactly what the prospects can bring on the ice or in a trade.

I get it but was talk of him being moved last year and hes been terrible. Also there this from athletic

The Isles’ defensive corps has focused so much on defending that there just isn’t enough offense being generated from the six back there. Most glaringly so from the current top pair of Nick Leddy and Ryan Pulock, whose output for the season is one assist, and that came from Pulock on the power-play overtime winner on opening night in Raleigh.

That the Isles’ two ice-time leaders so far — Pulock at 23:20 per game and Leddy at 22:19 — have managed nothing at 5v5 is worrisome, to say the least. Dig a little deeper and you see that Leddy has just five shot attempts at 5v5, one shot on goal and has been on the ice for 25 high-danger chances against as opposed to seven for, according to Natural Stat Trick.

That 21.9 high-danger chance percentage is among the worst in the NHL thus far for players with at least 40 minutes of even-strength time. Were it not for the black-hole duo of Leo Komarov (two HDCF, 12 against, for a 14.3 percent HDCF rate) and Valtteri Filppula (three for, 16 against, 15.8 percent), Leddy would be worst on the squad.

Believe me I don’t disagree with the idea of trading him but we have to see what these kids have. I’m hoping that’s the plan sooner rather than later. I’m bullish on toews and think he should be in the line up now he did nothing short of deserve the look at least from what I saw. Also let’s not forget about aho who had some good looks last season.

I think this team will keep going back and forth trying to find its identity but in the end there’s a big gap as far as talent goes and the grit and heart bs only takes you so far in today’s nhl. In other words we should be seeing an influx of youth in the next month or two followed by some trades. Leddy is a likely candidate to not be on this team next season unless he gets his act together.

We can't talk about trading Leddy and then get upset when Seidenberg is signed to another one-year deal. Toews should be called up, but he should play in addition to Leddy.

I agree with this BUT if toews proves he can hang with the big boys and Leddy is crapping the bed then you have to consider trading him imo. If Leddy finds his game again then of course you hang on to him but we’re now over a season of sub par play from the guy. Not saying trade him tomorrow by any means but if the right deal came along I believe it would have to be considered after toews proves himself.

Incredible how far south that kids game went. I was a huge fan of him his first season. He was an excellent two way forward and now you have this... I was rooting for the kid to start trending in the right direction when we traded him unfortunately for him that doesn’t seem to be the case.
