Leddy like many islander players over the years are being told to bite off more than they can chew. Clearly he's better than Gervais...…..I just like to go to the extreme. The point is, wiki says this about him
"On October 4, 2014, Leddy was traded to the New York Islanders in return for Ville Pokka, T.J. Brennan and Anders Nilsson in order to help the Blackhawks become salary cap compliant. " Traded Leddy to become salary compliant. That's a pretty strong organization just tossing him away.....

Leddy is not a #1 dman. I think Leddy works best on a 2nd pairing. On the Isles right now he is a #1 though.

Leddy can be a good defenseman it’s not like we haven’t seen that before. The question is will he be and is this the right system/coach to get it out of him? They had a rough game there will be plenty more of that this season imo but the games prior were well played so I’ll give him some more time. Leddy along with the rest of the team has to learn to come out ready to play. Was always a problem with the team under capuano and weight they were almost never ready to compete the moment the puck dropped and played catch up for two periods. We all know how that usually ends. Hopefully this is all just growing pains and part of the process.

Leddy would benefit from some sheltered second-pairing minutes. He isn't particularly great in his own end, so playing against some lesser competition would do him well. The Islanders have a lot of problems on the blueline. Much more bad than good in that department.

i just think Leddy and Boychuk dont mix. they are more oil and vinegar when they paired up together. Nashville is one of better teams in league. i think if isles can get few wins on this road trip we will be in perfect position for when we get back to normal schedule.

I expected them to come out flat after a 6 day layoff.

Agree. It was nice to see Trotz change up the pairings in the second. Hmm, imagine that. A coach that makes adjustments. Interesting.

Islanders have not had a solid top 4 D since 04? Jonsson , Hamrlik, Aucoin and Niinimaa. I think Cairns and Martinek were 5-6. I can't remember 1 solid top Dman since. Streit when he first got here? I still say Hamonic was not one either. They have always had bottom pairing guys playing top pairing minutes. So that's 14 years. Hmmm , lets see , 12 of those 14 were Snow. It may take a while and some more evaluating, but Lou and Barry will figure it out. They need 2 top 2 defenders. We have all been saying that for years. Lets let them see it and make some moves. May cost some top prospects but you have to give to get. Maybe some BPT guys will prove to be at least top 4. I just don't know what the price to get top 2 dmen would be and which ones if any will be available.

It happens to almost every team after a long layoff. The record of teams coming off a "bye" week is pretty bad.

It was a consistent problem with this team “bye” week or not in the past. We will see if that’s the case over the course of the season. Every team doesn’t get their asses handed to them coming off a bye week. There is a poorer record over a larger sample size I agree but that’s just an excuse IMO even with more parity in the league. Also, again in the past we have gotten our butts kicked by teams coming back from a long layover so the bye week doesn’t always apply. Point being is they have to be ready to play especially against a team like the Predators.

The @MapleLeafs announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Eamon McAdam from the @NLGrowlers (ECHL) on an emergency basis. Frederik Andersen is listed as day-to-day with a knee injury.

yes it was very refreshing to see a coach that know how to make adjustments.
we hit 2 posts ( pelech and nelson) before Nashville got that 4th goal. It is what it is. if we scored on either of those could of been different game.

Yes, yes - I get it. This has long been a problem for the Isles. I still say that any team going into Nashville that night after a 6 day break would have had a tough time. The Isles did get better in the 2nd and 3rd but it was too late.

Hey I’m not saying that Nashville isn’t an awesome team and any team would have an issue playing them but that goes without saying. Now with that said they were a complete total disaster there’s a difference😂.
All kidding aside I get it. Bye week combined with an awesome team doesn’t equate to consistent success BUT I believe they still need to better prepared then what we saw which could only buy them time until they potentially find their legs later in the game. This isn’t as much a blasting post as it is let’s see what happens over a 20 game period one. Let’s not upset our token nut job today ok? It’s been relatively quiet for a couple days...

While I agree they came out way too flat and seemingly unprepared/ready to play, it was nice to see Trotz make in-game and between period adjustments. Switching things up, moving players around. Not used to a coach doing that. So that was a bright spot.

0 in the 1st. Then they started playing a heavy game in the 2nd and picked up the battle level. Still didn't get the puck luck though.

I mean other than the occasional cathing a guy about to go on a breakaway, or going through the neutral zone with authority, does he really bring that much to the table? My personal opinion is he's too inconsistent to be anything other than a 3rd pair. On a real NHL cup contending roster, he's a third pair for what he brings to the table.

Niinimaa was basically what Leddy is now...….all skating, with sub par defense. But, yes they haven't had a top 4 on the backend like that since then. You need a back end with TWO SOLID PAIRS, if you're going to do anything in this league. Pelech, Mayfield, Hickey, just aren't doing it for me...

Corey Pronman picked one prospect he's been watching from each team and did a short writeup on them. He talked about Bode Wilde and his season so far:

NEW YORK ISLANDERS: Bode Wilde, D, Saginaw-OHL

I’ve generally been impressed by Wilde and scouts I’ve talked to have echoed that. He shows his high-end mobility and skill, impacting the transition game for Saginaw and being a dangerous player rushing the puck up the ice. There’s still a bit of Wilde-ness in his game. He has a few too many turnovers and forces plays that aren’t there. It’s not as bad as I saw last season, though, and I think the good notably outweighs the bad given the impact he has around the puck. He’ll have moments too where he launches a saucer pass that splits the D or wows the crowd with an amazing skill play. If he keeps up this play he’ll be in the running for top defenseman in the OHL this season.

Certainly looks like he stands out. He and Dobson will be welcomed additions down the road.
