Leddy still has some of last year's habits he needs to break. That second goal is like the ones last year that happened every single period. WTF made him stop at his own blue line? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKXdtB5nIWY He is going to learn how to play defense or be traded very soon is my prediction. He hung boychuk out to dry on that goal. stopped to create a 2-on-1 and then did not fly back to get the other guy when Boychuk came across to cover for him. ... .basic friggin hockey.

Hickey is really not good enough to play this many minutes.

Pelech seems to be in the right position but doesn't get involved. He is like a traffic cone. TIE THE GUY UP... you are allowed to touch him!!

Nelson should/could have had 4 goals in that game. Love that he is going to the net. Needs to put those opportunities away.

Why is Gionta on this team?

Bode Wilde killing it so far in the OHL. 3-8-11pts in 8GP. 2nd highest scoring defenseman in the league so far, one point behind the leader but Wilde has played two fewer games

Dobson 3-3-6pts in 7GP

Wahlstrom has one goal through two BC games

Iskhakov 1-1-2pts in 1GP with UConn

Skarek is 3-3-1 (3W, 3T, 1L) in 7GP with 1.67GAA and 931sv% in the SM-Liiga

Sweet... just think if these guys play this well they can get invited to camp next year. They can dominate in camp next summer.. Then when the season starts we can send them to B-port or another country and have some washed up has been on a PTO play for the Islanders instead. .

Pelech is like last years version of Nelson but as a defenseman. Real ugly combination. Hickey just makes some of the most head scratching plays when he actually has time and space which is just him as a player. He has always had this issue. Leddy I don’t know what the (frank) is wrong with him? I’m beginning to think this is just him as a player and what we got that first season was an anomaly.

These guys are all Snows creation. EVERY Dman is basically playing up. Leddy has wheels, there's no denying that, but other than that, he's not very impressive. I certainly don't consider him a top pair dman…….pretty sure he was a bottom pair D on the Hawks? Either way the fact that Pelech and Pulock are the top pair on this team is pretty telling.

I wouldn't freak out about the Gionta thing. No point in dragging Bellows or Ho-Sang up to play 9 minutes a night

Few rumors of him being traded for Nylander. I am more than fine with this.. even if it's Leddy + for Nylander.

Leddy should dominate with his speed and skill. Hickey is just not strong enough and does not have good speed. Pelech does not seem to use his size well at all.

I understand that point but I think if you bring those guys up they will play so well it would prevent you from only playing them 9 minutes a night.

There's no guarantee of that. Bellows has 2pts through 4 games in the AHL. Don't get me wrong...that's a really good start, but he's not exactly lighting the world on fire and forcing their hand.

I hear you, I want to see those guys this year too but they're going to either have to go on a scoring tear and force Lou to call them up or someone in the top-6 is going to have to go down with an injury to give them a shot. And, regarding the latter, given the organizations preference for veterans...there's no guarantee they'll get the call even if that happens.

Leddy is super fast, but what skill are you referring to? I think he's really a one trick pony. Nothing else in his game stands out to me, other than having wheels

He's never been a goal-scorer. His best goal-scoring year in the OHL was his second season and he scored 32. Other than that, he never even scored 20. He's always going to be a pass-first player and that's not going to change. Also, almost every single player on the BPT roster is a minus so far.

Leddy should be build for the current NHL. Leddy does not have a great shot but he can set players up.

Not having a good shot in the NHL, whether its todays NHL or 10 years ago, is not good. Otherwise you're basically just a little faster version of Bruno Gervais.

Yep. The Islanders and their fans should keep their mud slinging to a minimum our team has been an embarrassment to itself and fans for years now.

I cringe every time I see an Islander fan taunt anyone by hanging four Cups in the early 80's over their head as if that's some great accomplishment in 2018

It's so sad.

That it is. What’s even more sad is the state of this team for years now and younger fans complete lack of knowledge about what a good team should look like. When someone says Adam Pelech is a good defenseman it just tells me they need to get out more.

Nick Leddy can put up over 4o points a year. Not even close to Bruno. Leddy needs to be better but I'm not giving him up right now and make this D even slower.

I loved being able to enjoy those Cup teams but you cannot use them as an argument now.

I'd like to see them keep Leddy-Pulock together for a little while and see if they develop some chemistry. Bottom line is there probably is no amazing can't-miss top pair you can make out of what's on the roster right now, but those two seem to me to be the best left and right d-men on the team. Might as well put them together and keep them out there as often as possible. I feel like Leddy, for all his faults, can at least cover a lot of ice, which might help Pulock focus more on a smaller area.

Would any of you keep Ladd on Barzal's line? They didn't look too bad the other night and they were pretty good last season until Ladd went down and Beau grabbed that spot and never let it go. I'd maybe keep them together at least until Beau goes on a bit of a streak. You get the most out of Ladd's shot since Barzal will find him whether he wants to be found or not.

Also, another reason why they might not have brought someone up to replace Cizikas is I'm pretty sure they're expecting him back Wednesday. Probably doesn't make too much sense to fly someone out there for one game and then fly right back. That said, Gionta certainly didn't look like any kind of solution if a center goes down for any length of time in the future.
